En esta opción se sustituye el PTFE por silicona, obteniendo una membrana similar a su predecesora pero mucho más flexible y fácil de instalar, pero sin embargo no ha tenido aceptación en el mercado.

Membranas transparentes ETFE
These membranes are made of a low resistance, high elasticity non-woven film. Similarly to ETFE ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene, their transparency ranges between 50% to 96%, providing very good visibility and allowing a good portion of UV radiation to pass, thereby harboring the development of vegetable life. Adding several layers provides a good thermal insulation. The material’s surface is quite resistant to dirt and aging brought about the Sun’s UV radiation. It behaves as “self-extinguishing” or “flame retardant” in the presence of flame. Its life expectancy is approximately 20 years.
En esta opción se utiliza un film sin tejido de escasa resistencia, y mucha elasticidad, como en el caso del ETFE ethylene-tetrafluoroethylene, con transparencias de un 50% a 96%, de muy buena visibilidad, dejando pasar buena parte de la radiación UV ultravioleta, y permitiendo el desarrollo de la vida vegetal, agregando varias capas se puede mejorar la aislación térmica. Su superficie es bastante resistente a la suciedad y resistente al envejecimiento provocado por la radiación UV ultravioleta del sol. En presencia de la llama de fuego se comporta como “auto extinguible” o “retardador del fuego”. Tiene una vida útil de 20 años aproximadamente.

Transparent PVC (polyvinyl chloride) films may also be used for this type of membranes, which may be either woven or nonwoven (becoming translucent if woven); woven membranes offer low resistance, non-woven provide regular resistance. Their features are similar to those of the previous type of membrane, except that they do not provide excellent visibility and their surface is sensitive to dirt and ages rapidly due to UV radiation. In the presence of flame they behave as “self-extinguishing” or “flame retardant”, when the proper additives are present in their composition. Its approximate life span is 2 to 4 years.
En esta opción se utiliza también un film transparente de PVC (polyvinyl chloride, cloruro de polivinilo) sin tejido y también con tejido (en este caso se transforma sólo en translúcida), de escasa resistencia en el primer caso y de resistencia normal en el segundo. Tiene características similares al anterior salvo que no tiene excelente visibilidad y que su superficie es perjudicada por la suciedad y envejece rápidamente por la acción de la radiación UV ultravioleta del sol. En presencia de la llama de fuego se comporta como “auto extinguible” o “retardador del fuego” con los aditivos correspondientes en su composición. Con una vida útil de quizás 2 a 4 años aproximadamente.
