TENNESSEE HEALTH CARE CAMPAIGN Advocating for health care policies and programs that improve the health and wellbeing of Tennesseans since 1989.

ABOUT US Tennessee Health Care Campaign (THCC) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that envisions a future when all Tennesseans have affordable, high-quality, and equitable access to health care. Our success comes from our grassroot network of volunteers across Tennessee who mobilize communities and individuals to engage at all levels of health care policy. Through policy analysis, education, and advocacy, THCC has successfully increased the number of insured Tennesseans and promoted policies that improve cost, quality, and transparency in the health care system.

CORE VALUES All people in Tennessee deserve access to affordable, high quality, and equitable health care. Communities and individuals should have a meaningful voice and opportunities to participate at all levels of health policy. Health care systems should operate transparently, provide high value and quality experiences, and be person-centered. Health care systems change is too big to do alone and requires collaborating with like-minded organizations and coalitions. Diversity of ideas and people are essential in every conversation on health care delivery and reform.

ORGANIZATIONAL GOALS Increase the number of medically insured Tennesseans, especially among historically underserved populations. Improve the value, quality, and equity of health care and health coverage for Tennesseans. Increase transparency and accountability in the health care system. Ensure an informed and directed health care policy agenda through authentic engagement of communities and individuals. Build sustainability of THCC advocacy initiatives through diversified funding streams.

CURRENT WORK Statewide 844-644-5443 Hotline - Tennesseans seeking assistance to find affordable health care call our hotline to be connected with a THCC volunteer, community health center, or charity clinic. Certified Application Counselor - 1 staff person and approximately 30 volunteers are trained to provide assistance enrolling in either TennCare or the ACA marketplace. Rural Hospital Closures - Tennessee leads the nation in rural hospital closures per capita. A team of THCC volunteers are conducting listening sessions to identify policy needs that would help prevent closures or transform delivery of care. TennCare Advocates Coalition - THCC maintains a positive working relationship with the Division of TennCare and other organizations who provide direct service to Medicaid recipients with the aim of providing voice to the challenges they experience accessing care. Medicaid Expansion - Our grassroots network of advocates throughout all of Tennessee promote the importance of Medicaid expansion by hosting public forums, tabling events, mailing postcards to legislators, collecting petition signatures, and visiting legislators.
