All this is ARN Culture & Business Pride, an alternative festival held from 5th to 11th June in the heavenly surroundings of Playa de Las Américas (Arona, southern Tenerife). Enjoy the daytime concerts by Morcheeba, Marc Almond or well-known DJs, and attend “beach conferences” delivered by the former Icelandic Prime Minister Jóhanna Siguroardóttir, Shehnilla Mohamed, Violeta Assiego or Carla Antonelli. The Alan Touring awards acknowledge the legacy of important members of the LGTBIQ community.

Es ist fürwahr einer der schönsten Landstriche unserer Gemeinde und Hunderte von Menschen kommen zusammen, um in Erinnerungen zu schwelgen, unseren enormen ethnografischen Reichtum, sowie historische, kulturelle, traditionelle und ökologische Werte, die uns im Laufe der Jahrhunderte geleitet haben, zu neuem Leben zu erwecken und in der Bevölkerung bekannt zu machen. An diesen Tagen lade ich Sie herzlich dazu ein, das Meer, ein erfrischendes Bad und die vorzügliche Gastronomie mit Spaziergängen in der Altstadt von Adeje zu kombinieren, das alte Brauchtum des Fronleichnamstages und die höher gelegenen Landstriche der Gemeinde kennen zu lernen, wo Sie ein perfektes Klima willkommen heißt, um Wanderwege zu erkunden und atemberaubende Landschaften zu erleben.

June is a month for exploring Adeje and getting to know some of its most important historical heritage; it is a time of peace and quiet before the summer bustle. A month boasting exceptional weather, calm seas and a chance to enjoy traditions, such as a visit to the Ethnographic Meeting of Taucho, one of the most beautiful spots of the borough, where hundreds of people gather to recall the past and promote our exceptional ethnographic wealth: the historical, cultural, traditional and environmental values which have accompanied us through time. Therefore, these are days in which I urge you to combine the seaside and gastronomy with strolls around the centre of Adeje, to enjoy the Corpus Christi tradition, and to travel inland where the climate invites you to walk the paths and enjoy spectacular scenery.

Junio es un mes para adentrarse en Adeje y conocer algunos de sus valores históricos más importantes, el sosiego y la tranquilidad previos a la agitación veraniega y estival. Mes de excepcional clima, mar en calma y momento de disfrutar de tradiciones como las Jornadas Etnográficas de Taucho, uno de los rincones más bellos del municipio, donde cientos de personas se reúnen para recordar el pasado y fomentar y difundir nuestra enorme riqueza etnográfica, los valores históricos, culturales, tradicionales y medioambientales que nos han transportado a lo largo del tiempo. Cajamar Tenerife Bluetrail 2017: feel the Bluetrail Spirit On 10th June, Tenerife hosts the seventh edition of the CajamarTenerife Bluetrail, considered the race with highest altitude in Spain and second in Europe on account of its itinerary which, starting at sea level, reaches an altitude of over 3,550 metres. Included in the round of tests of international renown, this edition will count with the participation of around 2,700 athletes – one thousand more than last year – from 33 countries. The race, which crosses the Teide National Park, has five modes of different characteristics catering for mountaineers and runners of various levels and physical condition; it also features the Bluetrail Challenge with the participation of 100 disabled persons. The Trade Fair Centre of Tenerife will host the Tenerife Bluetrail Sports Show on 8th and 9th June when the numbers will be given out. CajamarTenerife BlueTrail upholds the Bluetrail Spirit which promotes, in addition to healthy lifestyles, a spirit of self-improvement, perseverance and innovation, from a supportive and sustainable viewpoint. Juni Gastgeber der siebten Auflage des Cajamar Tenerife Bluetrail - des wegen seiner Strecke höchsten Bergrennens Spaniens und zweithöchsten Europas, das von Höhe des Meeresspiegels bis hinauf auf über 3550 Meter führt. Das Rennen zählt zu den international bedeutendsten seiner Art und wird in diesem Jahr 2700, aus 33 Ländern stammende Sportler – eintausend mehr als im vergangenen Jahr - zusammen führen. Das durch den Teide-Nationalpark führende Rennen bietet fünf Modalitäten mit unterschiedlichen Charakteristiken, sodass Sportler und Athleten mit verschiedenen Fitnessgraden und körperlicher Verfassung an ihm teilnehmen können. Für die Modalität des Reto Bluetrail haben sich etwa 100 Teilnehmer mit Behinderungen angemeldet. Darüber hinaus findet in der Messehalle von Teneriffa am 8. und 9. LORO PARQUE helps to finance a project which pursues the survival of this species. In order to see and get to know these beautiful animals, LORO PARQUE has opened its Lion‘s Kingdom. It is an impressive compound recreating their natural habitat, hosting a young lion and two lionesses of the Angola subspecies. These three specimens were looking for a home and they found it under the sunshine of Tenerife and the shadow of Mount Teide. The Loro Parque Foundation co-operates in the KAZA project for the protection of the African lion in a transnational conservation area which spans Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe. In this way, LORO PARQUE endorses its commitment with nature and threatened species. This is a fantastic time to visit LORO PARQUE and to spend the day with the family observing these formidable animals which start a happy new life in the best zoo in Europe and second in the world.

This is the perfect place to feel in contact with nature. This beach, with a length of over one kilometre, is found in El Médano, Granadilla de Abona, beside the majestic volcanic cone of Montaña Roja. If you like surfing, in any of its variations (surf, windsurf, bodyboard, paddle surf or kitesurf ), La Tejita will be a real paradise for you, as its weather conditions are perfect for this type of sea sports. The area is classified as nature reserve, so you cannot reach the beach by car; but there are car parks along the Médano-Los Abrigos road with different footpaths that take you directly to the beach. The walk only takes around five minutes.

Spectacular European Tram Driver Championship

JANE PARSONS If you want to spend a really original and enjoyable day, don’t miss coming to Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Plaza de Europa, Avenida Bravo Murillo) on Sunday, 4th June, to enjoy the European Tram Driver Championship with all the family. This is how Tranvía de Tenerife celebrates its first 10 years and 132 million passengers. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., in a closed test circuit, drivers belonging to 24 teams from 14 countries (Germany, Sweden, Hungary, Austria, Belgium, Italy, Portugal, Spain, France, Ireland, Norway, Switzerland, Holland and Israel) will show their skills at the controls of the Citadis 302 model run by Tranvía de Tenerife Judges will assess driving skills in five runs: maximum speed and braking, clearance test, side stops, rear stops and tram bowling. This latter test is one of the most exciting and popular competitions. It consists in shooting a large ball with the tram to knock down half a dozen giant skittles. ESPECTACULAR CAMPEONATO EUROPEO DE CONDUCTORES DE TRANVÍA Si quiere pasar un día totalmente original y muy espectacular, no olvide venir a Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Plaza de Europa, Avenida Bravo Murillo), este domingo, día 4 de junio para asistir con toda la familia al Campeonato Europeo de Conductores de Tranvía. Así celebra Tranvía de Tenerife sus 10 primeros años y 132 millones de pasajeros transportados. De 10:00 a 18:00 horas y en un circuito cerrado de pruebas, conductores de 24 equipos procedentes de 14 países (Alemania, Suecia, Hungría, Austria, Bélgica, Italia, Portugal, España, Francia, Irlanda, Noruega, Suiza, Holanda e Israel) demostrarán sus habilidades a los mandos del Tranvía de Tenerife, modelo Citadis 302. Los árbitros valorarán la precisión de los conductores a través de cinco pruebas: máxima velocidad y frenada, prueba de gálibo, parada lateral, parada trasera y prueba de bolos. Ésta última es una de las pruebas más amenas y esperadas por el público. Consiste en chutar con el tranvía una gran bola para derribar media docena de bolos gigantes.

Die Schiedsrichter werden die Präzision der Fahrer bei fünf Tests bewerten: Höchstgeschwindigkeit und Bremstest, Durchfahrtshöhe, Längshalt, Rückfahrthalt und Bowling-Test. Besonders der zuletzt genannte Wettbewerb ist einer der unterhaltsamsten und bei den Zuschauern beliebtesten Prüfungen, die daraus besteht, mit der Straßenbahn einen riesigen Ball zu kicken und ein halbes Dutzend Riesen-Kegel umzustoßen.

Squares of Santa Cruz PLÄTZE VON SANTA CRUZ / PLAZAS SANTACRUCERAS SYLVIA MADERO We start this trail in Plaza Weyler, with breakfast in the kiosk of the same name, then going on to admire the Carrara marble fountain in the centre of the square and its neat gardens. From here, we take Avenida 25 de Julio and arrive in Plaza de Los Patos, with its central fountain surrounded by benches and flowerbeds decorated with striking and colourful tiles. We continue across the García Sanabria Park and along Calle El Pilar, until we reach Plaza de El Chicharro, featuring a small statue of a ‘chicharro’ (horse mackerel), the emblem of the city. Further on, we come across Plaza del Príncipe, with its magnificent Indian laurels which surround the curious bandstand in the centre. A light lunch in Pastelería Díaz, just opposite, is a good idea. Nearby is Plaza de San Francisco, a peaceful recess to sit down, shaded by the trees, or else to sip a cocktail in a pavement café. To end the tour, we recommend a walk to Plaza de España, one of the main landmarks of the city, and admire its night-time lighting while enjoying dinner in Café Atlántico.

Wir beginnen die Route auf der Plaza Weyler und nehmen ein leckeres Frühstück auf der Terrasse des gleichnamigen Kiosks zur Stärkung ein. Betrachten Sie den zentralen Brunnen aus Carrara-Marmor in der Mitte des Platzes und die gepflegten Gärten dieses symbolträchtigen Platzes der Hauptstadt. Von hier aus überqueren wir die Allee 25 de Julio und erreichen die Plaza de los Patos mit ihrem Brunnen, der von zahlreichen Bänken und Grünanlagen umgeben wird, und bestaunen Sie die Farbenpracht der unzähligen bunten Fliesen allerorten. Durch den Parque Garcia Sanabria hindurch und anschließend über die Calle El Pilar kommen wir zur Plaza de El Chicharro mit einer kleinen Skulptur eines Wahrzeichens der Stadt, der Holzmakrele. Ein wenig weiter liegt die Plaza del Principe mit ihren imposanten, umgebenden Lorbeerfeigen und dem interessanten Pavillon in der Mitte. Zum Mittagessen in ist die Pastelería Diaz direkt gegenüber eine gute Wahl. Direkt anliegend ist die Plaza de San Francisco - ein ruhiger Ort, um den Schatten der Bäume zu genießen oder, wenn Sie es vorziehen, um einen Cocktail auf einer der anliegenden Terrassen zu kosten. Abschließend empfehlen wir Ihnen, die Plaza de España aufzusuchen, eines der wichtigsten Wahrzeichen der Stadt. Bewundern Sie die nächtliche Beleuchtung und erfreuen Sie sich dabei an einem köstlichen Abendessen im Café Atlántico.

Comenzamos esta ruta en la Plaza Weyler, para desayunar en el kiosko que lleva su nombre y posteriormente observar la fuente central de mármol de Carrara y los cuidados jardines de esta emblemática localización capitalina. Desde aquí, atravesamos la Avenida 25 de julio hasta llegar a la Plaza de Los Patos, con una fuente en su centro rodeada por bancos y parterres, repleto todo el conjunto de coloridos azulejos. Continuamos atravesando el Parque García Sanabria y siguiendo la Calle El Pilar, llegamos a la Plaza de El Chicharro, que cuenta con una pequeña escultura de este pez símbolo de la ciudad. Más adelante se encuentra la Plaza del Príncipe, con sus imponentes laureles de Indias que la rodean y curioso templete central. Almorzar de picoteo en Pastelería Díaz, justo enfrente, es una buena opción. Junto a ella se sitúa la Plaza de San Francisco, un rincón tranquilo para sentarse a disfrutar de la sombra de sus árboles o si lo prefiere, tomar un cóctel en las terrazas a su alrededor. Para concluir, recomendamos acercarse hasta la Plaza de España, uno de los principales símbolos de la ciudad y maravillarse con su iluminación nocturna, cenando en el Café Atlántico.

La Laguna ist stets eine Stadt voller Musik, aber im Juni kommt dies wegen einer Reihe von Veranstaltungen, die sich seit langer Zeit konsolidiert haben und von den Einwohnern mit großer Vorfreude erwartet werden, noch stärker zum Ausdruck. Ich spreche von der Internationalen Jazzwoche vom 2. bis zum 10. dieses Monats und dem Festival der Musik am 24. Juni. Die Konzerte werden die Straßen der Stadt mit Klang und herausragendem Ambiente füllen. Ich lege Ihnen einen Besuch der Stadt in diesen Tagen sehr ans Herz, damit Sie mit uns diese Ereignisse genießen, die Sie keinesfalls verpassen sollten.

Music is always there in La Laguna, but in June it is even more noticeable with a series of events which have become consolidated in our borough and are highly anticipated by the locals. I’m referring to the International Jazz Week, to be held from 2nd to 10th of the month and the Music Fiesta of the 24th. All these events will fill the streets of our city with great sounds and atmosphere. You really must come and enjoy them, they shouldn’t be missed.a

La música siempre está presente en La Laguna, pero en junio se hace notar más con una serie de actividades que ya se han consolidado en nuestro municipio y se han convertido en citas muy esperadas por la ciudadanía. Les hablo de la Semana Internacional de Jazz, que se celebra del 2 al 10 de este mes y la Fiesta de la Música, el 24. Of course, a visit to El Pris without enjoying the seafood seems a waste but, if what you are looking for is a refreshing swim where you can take in the essence of the island’s lifelong alliance with the Atlantic, this spot is unbeatable and emblematic. Sea conditions permitting, the protected pool allows swimming almost all year round. Plus, on a calm day, you can swim from the pool to the open sea in one of the most popular and attractive spots of this part of northern Tenerife.

The pool features attractive stonework on the access stairs and solarium. The pool itself is a veritable gem, although you need to be careful in rough conditions as the sea swell and waves can sometimes prompt an unnecessary fright. But if you visit here, you are bound to come back. Por supuesto, una visita a El Pris sin degustar los frutos del mar en los restaurantes se queda corta, pero, si lo que busca es un buen baño en un lugar con la esencia de los muchos siglos de relación del tinerfeño con el Atlántico, éste es, sin duda, un enclave inmejorable y ya mítico. Salvo que el mar esté muy malo, la piscina protegida permite baños casi todo el año. Si, encima, la marea está dormida, se puede pasar del vaso al océano abierto en uno de los rincones más visitados y con atractivos de esta parte del Norte.

CHARCO DE LA LAJA (SAN JUAN DE LA RAMBLA) En pleno casco histórico de San Juan de la Rambla, una verdadera joya patrimonial y climática elogiada desde hace siglos y con una oferta gastronómica de primer nivel, el charco de La Laja se ha convertido desde hace muchos años en un ejemplo perfecto de zona de baño bien cuidada y muy visitada por vecinos, residentes de la Isla y turistas, que lo conciben como el remate inmejorable a una visita obligada a un municipio encantador. Una localidad que ha sabido conjugar el respeto al pasado con los avances de la modernidad. El charco está cuidado en sus acabados de piedra en la escalera de acceso y la parte del solárium. Su vaso natural es una verdadera joya, si bien hay que extremar la atención si el mar no acompaña porque la subida del agua con las olas da, a veces, algún susto innecesario. De resto, si va seguro que repite algún día.

CHARCO VERDE (LA GUANCHA) Almost reminiscent of the Little Prince, this charming spot is not widely known but, although access is difficult, it really is worth the trip. It is found in the northern borough of La Guancha, just before Charco del Viento if you are coming in direction of La Orotava valley. It is signposted with a narrow lane taking us to a place where we can park at the end of the road. Then, walking along a narrow path, we can take in the contrasts of this spot, with banana plantations, views of Mount Teide, a steep cliff and the impressive ocean below. The path meanders along the hillside in an area where you can encounter hunters training their dogs alongside fishermen. To the left of the cape, beside a sea inlet with spectacular cave, we eventually reach an incredible spot. It is a double pool protected by capricious rock formations created by lava, one allowing the water to flow in and another which turns into a cascade when the sea is rough. The colours, crystal-clear water and peace make this a heavenly oasis. CHARCO VERDE (LA GUANCHA) Die fast der Geschichte des Kleinen Prinzen entschlüpft zu scheinende “Grüne Lagune”, Charco Verde, ist eine recht unbekannte Perle der Natur voller Reize. Auch wenn der Zugang schwierig ist, rechtfertigt sie für sich allein schon eine Reise nach Teneriffa. Der Natur-Pool befindet sich in der nördlichen Gemeinde La Guancha, kurz vor dem Natur-Pool “Charco del Viento”,

UNTERHALTUNG / OCIO wenn man vom Orotava-Tal kommt. Die Zufahrt ist ausgeschildert und eine schmale Piste führt uns zu einer Parkzone, an der der Weg endet. Über einen ebenso schmalen Pfad gehen wir bergab entlang kontrastreicher Orte: Bananenplantagen, herrliche Blicke auf den Teide, eine steile Klippe und ein atemberaubender Ozean zu unseren Füßen. Der Weg schlängelt sich in Serpentinen um einen Hügel, auf dem zuweilen Jäger ihre Hunde abrichten und an dessen Fuß Angler ihr Glück versuchen. Auf der linke Seite des Kaps gelangen wir direkt neben einer atemberaubend von den Meereswogen geschaffenen Höhle über die Felsen zu einem unglaublichen Ort: zwei nebeneinander liegende Meeresbecken, die im Schutz der kapriziös von der Lava geschaffenen Felsen liegen. Auf einer Seite tritt das Wasser des Ozeans ein und auf der anderen bildet es bei starkem Wellenschlag eine Kaskade. Die herrlichen Farben der Natur, das kristallklare Wasser und die Ruhe verwandeln die Grüne Lagune in ein wahres Juwel. CHARCO VERDE (LA GUANCHA) Sacado casi del cuento de El Principito, este encantador lugar es una perla muy desconocida que, más allá de su acceso dificultoso, justifica por sí mismo un viaje a la Isla. Zum Mittagessen empfehlen wir wärmstens, die kanarische Küche im Restaurant La Parada an der Plaza del Cristo in der Altstadt von Icod zu kosten. Nach einem Bummel durch das historische Zentrum fahren wir weiter in Richtung Norden und legen einem Zwischenstopp in San Juan de la Rambla ein, um ein wenig durch diesen malerischen Ort zu schlendern. In Garachico haben wir dann das letzte Ziel unseres heutigen Ausflugs erreicht, den wir mit einem gemütlichen Abendessen auf einer der Terrassen der Uferpromenade krönend abschließen können, während wir dem Rauschen der Wellen lauschen.

Although this small songbird is often associated with the name of the Islands, the truth is that – according to several theories – the name of the Canaries has its roots in the large number of wild dogs on the Islands when the conquerors arrived. Be this as it may, this is a very popular bird on the Islands. Its yellow colour, sometimes with brownish tones, and beautiful song can be found in many areas of Tenerife, even in parks, squares and gardens; and if they have banana trees, even better, because these are one of its favourite refuges. Canaries build their nests in trees, around three metres from the ground so they are not disturbed, and logically prefer the countryside to urban spaces. These songbirds, that like to fly in flocks, feed on seeds and fruit pips, usually live between five and ten years and their song is so highly appreciated on Tenerife, that there is an annual Song Contest.

Canario Aunque muchas veces se asocia el nombre del Archipiélago a esta pequeña ave cantora, lo cierto es que según varias teorías el nombre de Canarias tiene su origen en la gran cantidad de canes salvajes que había en las Islas cuando llegaron los conquistadores. En cualquier caso, se trata de un ave muy apreciada en las Islas. Su color amarillo, con todos parduzcos en algunas ocasiones y su bello canto pueden encontrarse en muchas zonas de Tenerife, incluso en parques, plazas o jardines y si tienen plataneras, mejor, porque es uno de sus refugios favoritos. Los canarios hacen sus nidos en los árboles, a unos tres metros del suelo para no ser molestados y lógicamente prefieren zonas rurales a espacios urbanos. Estas aves cantoras, que gustan de ir en bandadas, se alimentan de semillas, pipas de frutas, suelen vivir entre cinco y diez años y su canto es tan apreciado que en Tenerife se celebra anualmente el prestigioso Concurso de Canarias de Canto.

Kanarienvögel bauen ihre Nester in Bäumen in einer Höhe von etwa drei Metern über dem Boden, um ungestört zu sein und logischerweise ziehen sie ländliche Gebiete städtischen vor. Die gerne in Schwärmen fliegenden Singvögel ernähren sich vor allem von Samen und Fruchtkernen, werden in der Regel zwischen fünf und zehn Jahre alt und ihr Gesang erfreut sich einer so hohen Wertschätzung, dass auf Teneriffa jährlich einer der renommiertesten Gesangswettbewerbe der Kanarienvögel veranstaltet wird.

Red tower of jewels

Tajinaste rojo En el caso de que lleguen a Tenerife en primavera, no duden en preguntar si florecieron los tajinastes y si es así, no pierdan la ocasión de ver una de las joyas de la botánica que ofrece la isla: el tajinaste rojo. Esta planta está presente en las Cañadas del Teide, La Fortaleza, Valle de Ucanca y cercanías del Parador Nacional. El tajinaste rojo, también conocido como sangre del Teide, es un arbusto que desarrolla una roseta de hojas muy densa, con forma de lanza, más largas en la base que las superiores, de tonos plateados. Las flores son de color rojo coral, de ahí su nombre, y se disponen de forma puntiaguda. Puede llegar a alcanzar los 3 m de altura, además es una especie muy importante para la producción de miel, pues es una de las flores preferidas de las abejas en Tenerife, según recoge la enciclopedia CanariWiki.

Also known as red bugloss or Mount Teide bugloss, it is a shrub which develops a very dense, spear-shaped rosette of silvery leaves which are longer at the base. The plant can reach up to 3 m in height and is very important for the production of honey, as it is a favourite with the local bees, according to CanariWiki.

Wildprets Natternkopf Wenn Sie Teneriffa im Frühjahr besuchen, erkundigen Sie sich unbedingt, ob die Natternköpfe in Blüte stehen. Und wenn dies der Fall ist, dann versäumen Sie keinesfalls die Chance, eines der Schmuckstücke der Botanik der Insel zu bestaunen: den rotblühenden Wildprets Natternkopf, der in den Canadas del Teide, am La Fortaleza, im Ucanca-Tal und in der Nähe des Berghotels Parador Nacional wächst. Der hiesig auch Teide-Blut genannte Strauch bildet eine dichte Blattrosette mit lanzenförmigen, am Boden längeren als an der Spitze, silbrigen Blättern aus. Die Blüten sind korallenrot und ordnen sich zu einer Spitze. Der Strauch erreicht eine Höhe von bis zu 3 m und ist laut der Enzyklopädie CanariWiki sehr wichtig für die Honiggewinnung, da er einer der beliebtesten Wirtspflanzen der Bienen Teneriffas ist.

TURISMO DE TENERIFE The walk starts in the square of Taborno and climbs up the footpath opposite the bus stop, heading to the summits. When you get to the road, continue along it until you reach the crossing with the road to Las Carboneras and Taborno, cross it and climb the steps carved in the rock. The footpath continues until you reach the road the takes you to Pico del Inglés and descends to Valleseco, going past Casa de los Berros and Casas de la Fortaleza.

The area around El Portillo is ideal for observation of the wonders of the night sky. During the early hours of the night in June, we can observe – among others – the constellations of Draco and Cepheus (northwards), Aquila and Cygnus (eastwards), Centaurus and Libra (southwards) and Cancer and Hydra (westwards). A simple and free Smartphone application such as Google Sky Maps will allow us to identify what we see in the firmament. Recommendations: see attached calendar to know the best nights for stargazing, check the weather forecast, take warm clothing, never stray from the road or signposted paths, respect and look after the environment and enjoy the spectacle provided by Tenerife’s sky.

Sanatorio TURISMO DE TENERIFE The footpath begins at the foot of Mount Teide and, as you move away, you get an increasingly spectacular view of the volcano. It follows an old track along which, during springtime, beehives are placed to obtain the delicious Teide broom honey. Also interesting is the lava dome of Montaña Blanca with its different formations. The footpath ends in the Siete Cañadas track, at the foot of the Guajara escarpment. With respect to flora, there is plenty of Teide broom, codeso shrub, summit rosebushes, marguerite daisies and flixweed. In the springtime and summer, it is a good spot to observe the abundance of insects that flock to the blossoms which colour the landscape with whites, yellows and pinks.

Der Weg beginnt zu Füßen des Teides und je weiter wir uns von ihm weg begeben, umso atemberaubender erscheint er uns in seiner ganzen Größe. Die Wanderung führt über einen alten Zufahrtsweg, an dem im Frühjahr Bienenstöcke aufgestellt werden, von denen der begehrte Ginster-Honig stammt. Herausragend sind auch die Lavaströme des Lavadoms Montaña Blanca mit ihren ganz verschiedenen Formen. Die Wanderung endet an dem Weg der Siete Cañadas zu Füßen des Guajaras. In der Flora bewundern wir die Farbenpracht von Teide-Ginster, Klebrigem Drüsenginster, Strauchmargerite und TeideRauke. Im Frühjahr und Sommer ist es ein guter Ort, um die Vielzahl von Insekten zu beobachten, die die Blüte nutzen, welche die Landschaft in weiße, gelbe und rosa Tönungen taucht.

El sendero comienza en las faldas del Teide y, al irse alejando del mismo, este se va haciendo cada vez más visible en toda su espectacularidad. Discurre por una antigua pista, junto a la que en primavera se colocan colmenas para la obtención de la apreciada miel de retama. También destacan las lavas del domo de Montaña Blanca con sus diferentes formas. El sendero termina en el camino de Siete Cañadas, al pie de los escarpes de Guajara. En la flora abundan retamas, codesos, rosalillos de cumbre, magarzas y hierbas pajoneras. En primavera y verano es un buen lugar para observar la multitud de insectos que aprovechan la floración que tiñe estos parajes de blanco, amarillo y rosado.

Tenerife, los visitantes tienen muchas posibilidades de encontrarse con puestos en el que este tesoro culinario, principalmente la especie originaria de Venezuela, aparece espléndido para un uso muy polivalente en nuestra cocina y en la de fusión. Algunos agricultores extraen en nuestra tierra estupendas hortalizas que aportan gran sabor.

Sweet pepper. In the farmers’ markets of Tenerife,

visitors are quite likely to find stalls where this sweet pepper or ají dulce, especially the variety from Venezuela, is displayed; a highly versatile product for local and fusion cuisine. Some farmers harvest these splendid vegetables which provide so much flavour.

Caraota bean. The black bean, so popular in Latin

American countries, especially Cuba and Venezuela, is another of those products which has adapted splendidly to the islanders’ diet, and which is normally served on a platter with rice, banana slices and fried or scrambled egg.

Süßpaprika. Auf den Bauernmärkten Teneriffas

RECIPES REZEPTE / RECETAS

Marinated tuna Marinierter thunfisch - Atún en adobo Ingredients:

1 kg of skinless and boneless tuna fillet 4 garlic cloves 1 large glass of oil, 1/2 glass of vinegar, 1/2 glass of white wine 1 teaspoonful of paprika Hot pepper, Oregano, Thyme Bay leaf, Cumin, Salt PREPARATION Cut the tuna fillet in small cubes. Pestle the garlic, half a hot pepper, cumin and paprika in a mortar, add the oil and mix well. Add salt, thyme, bay leaf, oregano, wine and vinegar. Leave the tuna to stand in this mixture for 24 hours and then fry the tuna cubes in hot oil and place on a platter. Put a little of the marinade in the left-over frying oil and, when reduced, strain. Use this mixture as sauce to accompany this dish.

Zutaten: 1 kg sauberes Thunfischfilet, ohne Haut und Gräten 4 Knoblauchzehen, 1 großes Glas Öl 1/2 Tasse Essig, 1/2 Tasse Weißwein 1 Esslöffel Paprika Peperoni, Oregano, Thymian, Lorbeer Kreuzkümmel, Salz.

ZUBEREITUNG Schneiden Sie die Thunfischfilets in kleine Würfel. Zerstampfen Sie den Knoblauch, eine halbe Peperoni, den Paprika und den Kümmel in einem Mörser, Öl hinzufügen und gut umrühren. Salz, Thymian, Lorbeer, Oregano, Wein und Essig hinzufügen. Lassen Sie den Thunfisch in dieser Mischung für 24 Stunden ziehen. Am nächsten Tag braten Sie die Stücke in heißem Öl und geben die Stücke auf eine Servierplatte. In das übrige Frittieröl gießen Sie ein wenig von der Marinade und wenn diese reduziert ist, sieben. Verwenden Sie die Mischung als Soße für das Gericht.

Ingredientes:

1 kg de atún limpio, sin piel ni espinas, 4 dientes de ajos, 1 vaso grande de aceite, 1/2 vaso de vinagre, 1/2 vaso de vino blanco 1 cucharada de pimentón Pimienta picona, Orégano, Tomillo Laurel, Comino, Sal. ELABORACIÓN Cortar el lomo de atún, en tacos pequeños. Machacar los ajos media pimienta picona, el comino y el pimentón en un mortero, añadir aceite y remover bien. Añadir sal, tomillo, laurel, orégano, el vino y el vinagre. Dejar reposar el atún en esta mezcla durante 24 horas y transcurrido este tiempo, freír los trozos en aceite caliente y colocar en una bandeja. En el aceite resultante de la fritura, verter un poco del adobo y cuando reduzca, colar. Utilizar la mezcla como salsa para este plato.
