TANTEX successfully conducted the first ever Volleyball Clinic for kids! As our generation is passing by, the importance of sports and games is diminishing. Today’s children are more interested in virtual games like playing Xbox, PS, mobile games rather than real games. Not only interest to virtual games, some have of studies or work and they are not able to take out time for sports and games or they don’t give much importance to it. But here is Tantex Sports & Youth motive is to make us aware of sports and games benefits and the things one is losing if we don’t have time or don’t have any importance for it. TANTEX in keeping in mind with above motive conducted a Volleyball Clinic for kids on Dec 22, 2012 in Dallas. The Clinic was attended by over 15 kids. Narasimha Reddy Urimindi, Secretary TANTEX-2012 inaugurated the clinic. He stressed importance of sports in addition to Language, and culture plays a key role in the development of body and mind. He said, Tantex is one of the few organizations in US that not only encourage language, literature, and culture but also encourage sports and games throughout the year. He congratulated the kids and parents for taking a step in the right direction by coming here. Tantex Treasurer Krishna Reddy Uppalapati was also present at the clinic. Camp was conducted by Balki Chamkura, TANTEX Youth & Sports Chair who has been playing the sport for years and has also been a coach for recreational leagues for children. The following kids attended the clinic – Shriya Maddi, Vennela Vattikutti, Ronauk Indurti, Karthik Chennupati, Sanjana Poonuru, Kirti Chamkura, Priya Konda, Ruthwik Kella, Ruthika Kella, Rahul Venti, Vaibhav Gaddam, Pranav Kasturi, Jayadev, Amit Asava, Vijay Charu. He was assisted by many parents – Anand Asava, Kamalakar Poonuru, Rambabu Chennupati, Sateesh Punnam, Sunitha Mitakanti and Jhansi Chamkura. The clinic started with presentation of videos on - The Basics of Volleyball – Passing, and Serving. The rules of games explained to the kids. The right techniques of passing, bumping and serving were taught. Later two teams were formed and actual games were played. Kids enjoyed the game a lot and it was a close finish 16-14.
