nology. Startups launched during the week, video games were unveiled and educators held the first Robotics Expo in the city.
With more than 50 press hits across newspapers, radio, television and blogs, the week also became an enormous opportunity for the partners involved in making it happen.
The week’s 35 sponsors and more than 50 event organizers were able to put their message and or-
ganizations in front of 30,000 unique visitors of Philly Tech Week web properties. They were in-
cluded in the 5,000 print publications distributed
in 50 retailers across the city. And they were able
to align with the 1,000 social media messages that spanned the event.
This year, April 23-28, 2012, Philly Tech Week will be
bigger
and
be
organized
better.
With
the
success
of
last

year’s event, it is expected that more events will and

Notable highlights from the 2011 Philly Tech Week More than 120 people came to WHYY to see the launch of Open Data Philly. The site, developed by Azavea, is a central hub of many of the city’s data sets. Councilman Bill Green unveiled his 10-point Open Government Philadelphia initiative. IDGA showed off 15 local video game studios. During Switch Philly, five local startups demoed their products, all of which found new investor interest. At BarCamp NewsInnovation, journalists from all over gathered as hackers created tools from data sets on Open Data Philly, like a searchable database of Philadelphia property records. Put 5,000 Philly Tech Week print supplements into more than 50 retailers in the city Latest from the Greater Philadelphia Innovation Cluster was shared. An open source development contest was launched. City Managing Director Rich Negrin pledged the 311 mobile app ‘within the next three months.’
