EDITOR’S NOTE In July 2012, Texas Tech lost one of its biggest fans. Ken Moore, Tech’s longtime operations supervisor passed away leaving behind a multitude of people who knew and loved him. He was a mentor, colleague and friend. For 21 years, Ken roamed the Texas Tech Football sidelines coordinating the communications system for the coaching staff. Often a very thankless job, Ken played a vital role in helping position the Red Raiders for a victory every Saturday during the fall. His love of this university reached beyond the football field as he was an avid supporter of every single Texas Tech team that took the field, the court or the pitch. He worked countless hours making sure that our student-athletes had the very best possible playing conditions and other teams were treated with warm West Texas hospitality when they visited. This wasn’t a job for Ken – it was a labor of love.

His love of this university and for the people that he worked alongside was unmatched. As a young professional, Ken was a constant and steady hand that provided countless hours of support so that I (and many others) could be successful. But aside from that, what mattered most to me was our friendship. I will miss those early morning hours on Sundays prior to the last baseball game of a weekend series where we would sip on coffee, eat a breakfast burrito and talk. The conversation always revolved around our beloved Red Raiders and branched out to other important topics in our lives – then always circled back to the Scarlet and Black. Ken spent a lot of hours away from his family during his time at Texas Tech. I hope they know how much he meant to our department and how his friendship blessed so many of us. This 2012 Media Supplement is dedicated to Ken’s memory. Guns Up my friend. I know you will be cheering us on from the best seats in the house. Blayne Beal Editor WWW.TEXASTECH.COM
