“Real-life problems don’t just encompass one discipline. A raw-material supply crisis can have an impact on finances, production processes and sales. It’s time to apply what you have learned!

Each block has at least one multidisciplinary challenge linked to real life, while two professors will support you in solving it and in developing your competencies.

WEEK 18

The finishing touch of the semester. It’s a moment for self-feedback and reflection on the progress you have made in your development.

TEC WEEKS

Weeks 6, 12 and 18 of the semester are special, since you will actively pause to reflect on your progress, continue developing your leadership competencies, and strengthen your exit profile, in a highly immersive context linked to reality.

EXPLORATION

It all starts here. With the selection of one of our 6 entry areas. This is where you will develop the competencies that are fundamental and common to a group of degrees. You will also discover and broaden your interests to make a decision on which degree to choose or to reinforce the decision you have already made.

FOCUS

Once you have acquired the fundamentals of the area, you will deepen your knowledge in the degree of your choice. Here, the challenges, courses and blocks are designed so that you can develop degreespecific competencies.

SPECIALIZATION

Where you will personalize your degree according to your interests and plans.

Tec Semester: In this stage, you will have the chance to specialize and enjoy experiences that will give your degree a unique focus.

Here you will have the opportunity to specialize and choose concentrations, enabling you to address current and future market demands and graduate with a unique profile and invaluable expertise.

CONCENTRATIONS

As your main allies who will be accompanying you in building a vision of your future, these learning experiences seek to broaden your preparation by connecting you with other disciplinary areas, according to your vocation and preferences.

INTERNSHIPS

During the internships, you will be participating in developing specific projects with companies, organizations or research groups, in a total-immersion context, related to a specialization area. Internships can take place locally, nationally or internationally.

At Student Leadership and Development (LiFE), we are committed to bringing out your potential and driving your leadership. You are the reason for our existence. LiFE delivers a wide variety of opportunities to help you discover your passions and continue to develop in what you do best. You can participate in lessons to learn to play a musical instrument, form part of a student concert or enjoy performances as a spectator. You can also join a sports team, either to have fun, compete or represent Tec. At the same time, you can experience the electric atmosphere of the Borregos games.

Throughout your studies, you will have the support of your Student Mentor, who will accompany you in defining your life plan, identifying your purpose, integrating into the community, and using and enhancing your different talents to assure your success as a student. You will become a member of a student community that helps you integrate and generate an emotional connection with your classmates, your mentor and Tec community.

If you are inspired by sharing with those around you, you can participate in different student-group projects or join the EGS Global leadership program.

ACCOMPANIMENT MODEL

To experience Tecnológico de Monterrey, you will form part of a student community, where you will have a mentor who guides you in integral well-being aspects to drive your success and comprehensive preparation. During the first year, not only will a student from higher semesters be your peer, but you will also have the support of the Entry Director, who will guide you in your decisions during the Exploration stage, and of the Program Director, who will guide your academic path during the Focus and Specialization stages.

The objective of this accompaniment is to help you find a sense of belonging and identify your purpose by using and fostering your different talents through study, sports, culture, entrepreneurship or volunteering to become an agent of change who creates, innovates and positively transforms society.

INTERNATIONALIZATION

In the current context, apart from total-immersion experiences at foreign universities, it is essential for all university graduates to have competencies for collaboration with global teams.

As a Tecnológico de Monterrey student, you will have the opportunity to participate in both experiences, on the one hand through the more than 670 agreements signed with international universities in 45 countries.

In addition, you will be able to develop remote collaboration competencies with overseas teams through the Global Shared Learning initiative, in which you will enjoy international digital experiences at no extra cost, giving you the chance to collaborate with students from over 60 universities in 21 different countries.

The Global Shared Learning initiative received:

U21 Awards 2022 from Universitas21 for having a positive impact on more than 10,000 Tec students. Recognition from UNESCO and the Hemispheric University Consortium for leading digital internationalization during the global pandemic.

The International Diploma is a qualification additional to your bachelor’s degree. Its aim is to prepare global leaders with a vision of the international context and respect for diversity.

LEÓN KRAUZE LCC '98 JOURNALIST AND NEWS ANCHOR AT UNIVISIÓN

He began his career as a sports journalist. He published three books on the history of Mexican football and wrote and produced around 100 documentaries on sports history for the program Hazaña, el Deporte Vive, at Televisa. In 1998, he turned to political analysis and is currently a columnist for the newspapers El Universal and The Washington Post. León has won nine Emmy awards, including two for his reports on deported mothers and the cost of border security. He obtained his most recent award in 2020 for Los Angeles 2050, a series that envisions the sustainable future of the second largest city in the United States.

What if a bra could provide data on women's cardiovascular and respiratory systems? This is now possible thanks to a research initiative led by Alicia Chong. Alicia has been generating initiatives for Women in Technology, Grupo MenTe in Monterrey, MenTe in Action and the MenTe National Network in Costa Rica for over 10 years. In 2016, she received the MIT Sandbox Innovation Fund and, the following year, the same institution awarded her the Legatum Fellowship and the Graduate Woman of Excellence award. Afterwards, in 2018, she was included in MedTech's 40 Under 40 Healthcare Innovators in Boston.

FRANCISCO GONZÁLEZ PULIDO

ARQ '91 ARCHITECT

A Mexican architect, designer and planner renowned for his expressive and rational approach to design; the Veer Towers in Las Vegas are a fine example. He has worked on the design of various types of buildings: houses, airports and skyscrapers located in America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. In 1999, Francisco joined the famed Murphy/Jahn studio (currently known as JAHN) in Chicago, where, in 2009, he became the first partner and since 2012 he has served as the firm's president. He has won numerous international awards, and was named one of the ten most promising Mexican architects by Obras magazine. His work has been exhibited at The Art Institute of Chicago, Unbuilt Chicago and the U2 Studio in Dublin. In 2005 he won the Architecture Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects.

OUR RESEARCHERS

Tec de Monterrey is the private university with the highest number of faculty admitted as members of the National System of Researchers (SNI) and is a major generator of patents. We are also the only university in Latin America to have entered into a collaboration agreement with Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), thus allowing undergraduate students to apply for summer research stays in the fields of nanoscience and nanotechnology.
