The Fish-Eye Lens

(Part 4)

Satir's Three Universal Questions How do I get all this information about context to begin with, so I can strip out all these biases? One way is to use Virginia Satir's Three Universal Ques tions, modified slightly to take into account the entire organization and all its people: • How did they get here? (Past) • How do they feel about being here? (Present) • What would they like to have happen? (Future) If you read The Secrets of Consulting, you'll recognize that "How did they get here?" is the general question underlying Boulding's Backward Basis: Things are the way they are because they got that way.
