Innovative design and development company with manufacturing capability in plastic injection moulding. We develop devices using the latest technology in polymer and metallurgy with the required electronics using our associated partner. Offering know-how and expertise based on our engineering and knowledge of a wide range of processes, capable of manufacturing the end product at a cost effective price. We are currently working on single use disposable devices in the field of laparoscopy, gynaecology and urology. We are working with leading clinicians in these areas to enable the use of appropriate technology and processes to develop devices with patient need being the priority. Opportunities for partnerships are sought in the medical/healthcare arena enabling early stage devices and systems be developed, trialled and finally marketed via our distribution partners. We design and develop specialised packaging in the areas of radiology and bioscience.

Cardiff MediCentre is a dedicated innovation and incubation centre supporting the development of the life-sciences sector in Cardiff. With circa 25,000 sq ft of office and laboratory space the centre offers specialist support and business services for high-growth early stage companies developing medical- and lifesciences-related technology. Established in 1987, the centre is governed by a joint venture involving Cardiff Council, the Cardiff & Vale NHS Trust, the Welsh Assembly Government and Cardiff University, providing MediCentre tenants with unique access to public sector organisations geared towards supporting economic growth and encouraging medical development.

Boots Centre for Innovation works closely with early stage companies or inventors to develop innovative new products and technologies within the health and beauty sectors. The principle aim of the Centre is to mentor and support these innovators through each stage of product development and eventually launch exciting new consumer products for the shelves of Boots stores. At its base in Swansea University, Boots Centre for Innovation provides business knowledge, access to a wealth of scientific expertise, advice on obtaining funding and a gateway to 2,400 Boots stores in the UK with an introducing to an international distribution and retail network.

Central Biotechnology Services (CBS) provides state-of-the-art, high throughput laboratory facilities and technical support, enabling the acceleration of research activities, the fostering of collaboration and the realisation of research potential. Based in Cardiff University, CBS aims to provide its customers with an excellent, cost-effective service, offering advice, training and analysis using facilities across the broad spectrum of the life sciences. Specific facilities available include: Genomics - qPCR, DNA sequencing, DNA fragment analysis, and affymetrix microarraying. High throughput assays using the MesoScale Discovery (MSD) platform. Proteomics, biacore, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and cell sorting, histology and laser capture microscopy.

CITER brings together life sciences and clinical expertise from Cardiff University to advance technological developments in the field of tissue engineering and repair and ultimately to improve patient care and quality of life. CITER’s three strands of activity are: interdisciplinary research encompassing the biomechanical, regulatory, ethical, physiologic and health service aspects of tissue engineering and repair; the provision and commercialisation of clinical service technologies; and education, training and knowledge dissemination including an MSc in Tissue Engineering, an interdisciplinary postgraduate taught scheme which may be of particular interest to representatives in the healthcare sector. CITER’s range of services is potentially attractive to the NHS, pharmaceutical, biotechnology, engineering, devices and biomaterials companies.
