GX Systems Boots, Longbow Capital and the Institute of Life Science at Swansea University, the Centre works closely with early-stage companies or inventors to develop innovative new products and technologies. Offering expertise in all areas of business including product development, marketing and retail know-how, it is able to mentor and support innovators through each stage of the development through to the launch of new products for the shelves of Boots stores.
Since it opened last year the Centre has received more than 700 product ideas from inventors. Gaynor found the Centre to be both a supportive and productive environment: the expertise of its team, particularly in marketing, distribution and packaging, proving invaluable in enabling the IncoStress device to achieve its full product potential. C&G Medical has grown steadily, supplying and working with several NHS trusts in the UK and several hospitals and pharmacies in Europe. The ready availability of IncoStress direct to the international customer will bring the benefit of this device to sufferers world-wide. The company is expanding the brand and has just launched their latest development, IncoSilk, a cream formulated to resolve skin complaints such as intertrigo and other fungal infections. There are more projects in the pipeline, with a very promising future for this young and dynamic company.

GX Systems has supplied the mobile workflow element of the GX Field Service suite of products to Serco, one of the UK’s leading facilities management companies. Transforming visibility and control over operations, it will provide a direct, up-to-the-minute communication link between Serco’s field service and regional office. The GX Field Service system is used by Serco operatives to manage the process of repair and maintenance work across a broad range of service industry situations. It will be used to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness in order for Serco to meet the contractual requirements in place with their clients. Equipped with handheld PDAs, Serco’s field team send and receive job information as they progress. The information sent to them comes from Serco’s helpdesk when a call is put into the system by the helpdesk operative. This is then allocated through the GX Field Service system to the field operative best suited to the task, both by skill set and location. Out in the field, GX Field Service supports individual workers through the delivery of highly flexible workflows on their handheld devices, guiding them through step-by-step procedures for a variety of typical tasks, for example changing or

operatives, but also same-day invoices to customers, cutting paperwork and making major improvements to company cash flow.
Before GX Field Service was implemented, the Serco maintenance team were running a manual, paperbased system which hindered performance measurement and basic management of the maintenance staff. Now Serco’s management team has up-to-the-minute visibility of jobs in progress and the history of activities surrounding each asset through fully secure audit trails. They are able to issue not only instant work instructions to individual field
The system improves both progress reporting and management control, accurately identifying trends and rectifying performance problems through the reporting system. Realtime progress reports can be made and new schedules collected directly from the field. Materials allocation for field operatives is more effectively managed, with updates on stock use made to central stores via PDAs allowing immediate preparation of orders for replacement parts.
