The forged and machined integrated headtube uses standard 1 1/8" steer tubes and Ritchey dropin headset bearings, but narrows to 32mm at the thinnest section—almost the size of a 1-inch steer tube. It’s a stronger design that allows for an 80 gram weight reduction over a traditional 1 1/8" steer tube design. It also makes for a stronger front triangle.

This revolutionary patented design starts with a bar clamp that wraps a full 260 degrees around the handlebar to distribute clamping stress more evenly through the handlebar, faceplate, hardware and stem body. The steer tube clamp uses three bolts and a curved slot to reduce clamp stress on the steer tube. The body is 3D forged from an advanced 7050 aluminum and internally machined for further weight reduction. Premium quality CrMo steel bolts are used throughout, but in a smaller T-20 TORX size that shaves a few more gra ms w ith no s ac r i f ic e in strength or rigidity.

THE NEW FFWD F6D With the introduction of disc brakes to cyclocross bikes and perhaps even road bikes in the future, FFWD Wheels directly went into testing with this new setup. After thorough tests we can add the F6D to our program for 2013. The successful 60mm tubular rim with FFWD DARCTM profile is built around DT Swiss 240s hubs for disc brakes. Both front and rear wheels are laced in a two cross way with 28 DT Aerolite or Sapim CX-Ray spokes. Like on our track wheels, the rim surface is optimally used to position the logo’s. An innovative, exclusive, full carbon wheelset, yet serviceable! This has been the objective when developing a new FFWD carbon wheel set. The new hand built wheel set sets itself in a niche of the already very complete product range of FFWD Wheels. In cooperation with carbon specialist and engineer Valery Fraise, FFWD developed the GHOST wheel set! Twelve full carbon spokes in both front and rear wheel are laced into a 32mm tubular rim and around a full carbon high anged hub shell. The airfoil-shaped spokes are key in this special wheel set. Truing the wheels and even replacing spokes is possible due to threaded titanium inserts at both ends of the spokes and in the hub ange. The easy serviceability is making the FFWD GHOST wheels one of a kind in its segment!
