how it affects More than any other disease, smoking is the largest source of death and disability worldwide today. Specifically, in Spain 40,000 deaths occur per year due to smoking.

Why is smoking adictive? Nicotine is a stimulant that works by delivering dopamine, a brain chemical that produces a sense of pleasure. There are studies that suggest that nicotine depresses the brain's ability to experience long-term pleasure. Hence, smokers need higher doses of nicotine to experience the same levels of satisfaction.

Smokers in spain In Spain almost 30% of the adult population is smoker. Year after year, the men lead this ranking. What does vary in recent studies is the age of Spanish smokers. At present, those who smoke the most in Spain are adults between the ages of 24 and 34. On the contrary, among those over 65, it is where a lower number of smokers are perceived. With these data, it is worth noting that every year around 60,000 people lose their lives in our country as a result of smoking. As a result of awareness campaigns, according to the Spanish Association against Cancer, almost 3,000 smokers come to their professionals to try to stop smoking

Solutions to stop There are many ways to stop smoking. There are also many resources to help you. Your family, friends and co-workers can be supportive. But to be successful, you really have to have the desire to quit. Most people who have been able to successfully quit tried it at least once without success in the past. Try not to see past attempts to quit as failures. See them as learning experiences. Quitting smoking or quitting using smoke-free tobacco is difficult, but anyone can do it.
