Loci Architecture PC | Residential | Competition

PROJECT DESCRIPTION | Design Competition for a private residence in Switzerland. The exercise for this competition comprehended a design for a private estate overlooking the Lake of Geneva in southern Switzerland. The client demanded a design for a main house serving as the family residence, as well as a guest house and a staff house adjoined by a family garage for various private cars. PROJECT DESCRIPTION | Design of a $30 Million residential estate in Switzerland. The project is a direct result of winning a

preceding design competition. Working on this projects comprehends a transatlantic collaboration with a London based interior design firm. Both firms, architect and interior design office are working closely to meet the design goals set by the client.

Loci Architecture PC | Public | Competition

PROJECT DESCRIPTION | Design Competition for a NYC AIDS Memorial Park in the West Village. The proposed design is a

metaphor for the massive tectonic impact that was felt by the city during the AIDS crisis. The shifting ground planes of the design signify the result of the impact and are analogues to the social upheaval caused by the crisis in the city. The proposed AIDS Memorial Park consists of sloping planes that rise above the surrounding streets, forming a large green roof which serves as a public park over a subterraenean exhibition space and learning center.

Stuttgart State Opera | Stage Design

PROJECT DESCRIPTION | War, exodus, downfall. Hector Berlioz‘ epic opera „Les Troyens“ focuses on the escape of the Trojan hero

Enee via Carthago to Italy and his love to Didon, the Queen of Carthago. Berlioz amends a previous story to the opera narrating the downfall of Troy.

The stage design contrasts both civilizations of Troy and Carthago. The society of Troy is presented as prehistoric,

savage but organic while Carthago represents a modern civil society: clean, constructed, efficient. The clash of both societies and their representatives Enee and Didon leads to an overall destruction of both social identities while evoking the question whether societies are rather prone to mutually destroy themselves than being capable to assimilate. University of Stuttgart | Thesis - Awarded with the Diploma Award

PROJECT DESCRIPTION | Verdi’s opera is characterized by Otello’s deep lack of self-confidence leading to his strong, hysterical will to

gain and maintain a high social status. Both makes him destroy his hard earned reputation being a heroic warrior and governor of Cyprus and eventually become an outlaw and murderer of his beloved wife Desdemona.

The project comprehends both the stage design and the theoretical work of a dramaturgy. Both parts put he plot of the opera in a highrise building in a contemporary metropolis of the western world. The elevator as part of the building and main element of the stage design symbolizes the opportunities and threats to rise and ascend, both economically and socially and hence mirrors the various social and emotional levels which are to be seen during the development of the opera.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION | The movie has been created to be part of a summer festival in Stuttgart entitled „City is theater“. In this

context, it has been projected on the facade of the festival theater as a contribution to the festival programme.

„Paarlauf“ is about two individuals walking through the city while exploring the urban spaces with their own view. From time to time, they discover literary contents in usual every-day actions. The short movie takes the viewer on an unperspective walk through the city with spontaneously occuring literary contents.

University of Stuttgart | Individual Project

PROJECT DESCRIPTION | Design of meditation spaces. The meditation site contains a small, dark room for reflective

meditation and a larger, bright room for mediation aiming to connect with the surrounding natural environment. Both rooms are connected to each other for a possible succession and variation of sessions. The building can be accessed through a courtyard whose main element is characterized by a small creek flowing through.
