After fiveyear drought Williams to run 200M for Great Britain – selected in GB’s team for Athletics World Cup TCI born, British sprinter, Delano Williams has been selected to represent Great Britain at the Athletics World Cup, which is sheduled for London on July 14 and 15. When Williams runs the 200M at the London Stadium, it will be the first time in almost five years that he will represent GB in an individual sprint event. The last time he represented GB in sprinting was at the World Championships in Moscow in 2013. The TCI’s lone Olympian said he was excited when he found out about the selection this week. “I am excited and just trying to push forward as I want to build here into next season and try to stay healthy for rest of the season.” The British team will compete against the United States, South Africa, Poland, France, China, Germany and Jamaica.

THIRD BEST 200M PB The Grand Turk born, who has been rather successful representing GB in the 400M relays, has been pushing to return to the individual sprints. His break came at the Senior Trials last weekend when he clocked his third fastest ever 200M. The 24-year-old finished fourth in a time of 20.47s. Nethaneel Mitchell-Blake won the meet in a time of 20.24s, while Adam Gemili finishing second (20.26) and Leon Reid (20.31s) third. Williams got past Edmond Amaning (20.51s), Jordan Broome (20.91s), Confidence Lawson (21.03s) and Miguel Francis in the final. Williams’s 20.27s, which he achieved in 2013, is his personal best and a TCI national record. HAPPY WITH MVP MOVE The Jamaica-based athlete, who began running under the Maximising

PABA 15-and-under 3on3 set for this Saturday At least six teams are expected to compete in the Provo Amateur Basketball Association 15-and-under 3on3 competition this Saturday. The teams will battle at the Bight Basketball court from 17:00h. Partons are asked to pay $5 at the gate.

He believes that I can sprint again and that’s exactly what I am doing.” BIG STEP Williams said he felt good in the race. “I don’t think I was very sharp as I haven’t race close to a month. So I am proud I came this far since I haven’t run this fast in four years.” “This is a big step for me. I’m over the moon to be sprinting again and I am finally seeing the progress.” STEPPING STONE The ace sprinter is hoping to build on his progress to be ready for the Olympics in 2020. “I like to acknowledge that I love the support Flow Turks and Caicos has given me and it’s just a stepping stone to the Olympics.” “I haven’t been sprinting; just 400M and I hated it, so now I am doing what I love. This is what people have known me for (sprinting) and I am prepping myself for the Olympics in two years’ time.”

Team Black won the first TCIBF 3-on-3 competition.

Team Black win 3-on3 basketball title TEAM Black emerged as champions in the first ever Ladies 3-on-3 competition which was held last Friday at the Lower Bight Basketball court. The four-team competition came down to a championships clash between Team Black and the Stealers. The former won the defensive clash 7-4 in 19 minutes of running time. Duajana Fulford led the attack for Team Black with five points, while Lynisia Gardiner (four points) was the Steelers’ go to scorer.

TCI Basketball Federation president Sydwell Gasgow told the Weekly News that the idea was to help grow the game for females in the TCI. “It’s important to have these tournaments to encourage female participation and excitement in the sport. We want to encourage female interest and involvement. The goal is to develop the female aspect of the game from grassroots to elite level in an effort to achieve local, national and international level participation in competitions.”
