Accommodation You chose a good College - Trinity gives you a room every year of your degree. They are fairly well priced for what they are, but the one downside is that you have to empty them every holiday so the College can rent them out for conferences. You can pay to keep your room over the Christmas and Easter holidays, but not over the Summer. Therefore it is not advisable to bring too much stuff with you. Overseas students can box and store their belongings in College.

Freshers live in three areas of College which are all relatively close to each other. These are the Wolfson Building, Angel Court and Blue Boar (the custom in Cambridge is to name rooms by the staircase they are on).

Generally College rooms do not have fridges, though if you have a particular dietary requirement you may be able to have one installed. This should be arranged with the Accommodation Office or through your Tutor.

All the rooms have lamps, and the College supplies bed linen, although students may bring their own duvet covers and blankets.

If you lock yourself out, don’t panic: the Porters have spares to every room.

Some of the rooms look a bit bare, so make sure you bring some posters or hangings to put up. Everyone gets a small pin board, and you can use pins on the walls or ask to have proper picture hooks put up. However, the College has strong feelings about Blu-Tack, so avoid it.

All the rooms have access to a kitchen (or gyp room in Cambridge slang) with a hob, microwave, fridge, toaster and kettle, so you don’t need to bring a kettle. Only the lucky ones in Wolfson Building and Blue Boar Staircase ‘I’ have ovens, so save
