Before working for Jimmy Saros, I was a full-time CEO and CFO of a six-person household, an active community member and a part-time teacher.

WHAT DOES YOUR TYPICAL WORK DAY LOOK LIKE?

Pretty much if something needs to be accomplished, I am happy to help get it done! From property management to answering phones and scheduling home inspections and appraisals, I assist in any way I can.

From day one, I have been given the opportunity and the chance to grow within this team — to make mistakes and to learn from them. The Saros family has created a work environment where exponential growth is possible, teamwork is appreciated, and new ideas are welcomed and implemented.

WHAT IS THE MOST REWARDING ASPECT OF YOUR JOB?

I love seeing the successful transactions between our agents and their clients. In the office, I appreciate being a valuable member of a long-standing company that has an excellent reputation and such a bright future.

WHAT IS THE MOST CHALLENGING ASPECT OF YOUR JOB?

Keeping track of all the moving parts — knowing that I am doing everything possible to keep the office running.

WHAT IS ONE THING ABOUT YOU THAT OTHERS MIGHT FIND SURPRISING OR INTERESTNG?

I have four kids: one who graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy in May, a senior at Michigan State University, a senior at Grosse Pointe South High School and a freshman at Grosse Pointe South High School. I met my husband when I was 18 — we’ve been married for almost 23 years — best decision I have ever made!

WHEN YOU'RE NOT WORKING, WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN?

I am the current president of the Grosse Pointe Gators Swim Club. My husband swam competitively throughout college, and all four of my kids swim competitively. The swim community has become like my second family.

HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT BEING NOMINATED AS A BEHIND-THE-SCENES ALL-STAR?

Honestly, Jim Saros Real Estate Services is such a team-driven environment, so I feel a little self-conscious about being picked out of the group.

IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU'D LIKE TO SHARE ABOUT YOURSELF, ABOUT YOUR JOB OR ABOUT YOUR RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PERSON WHO NOMINATED YOU?

Jimmy Saros is an incredible leader — he’s young, energetic and on the cutting edge of all technology. He has so much intrinsic knowledge in the real estate industry — Jimmy knows everything there is to know about Detroit. In two short years, I feel like I have been adopted by the Saros family and become a true member of their team. I am forever grateful they took a chance on me!

Jimmy Saros, vice president of Jim Saros Real Estate Services, says that Colleen immediately fit in and became a major contributor to his team.

According to Jimmy, one of Colleen’s notable contributions includes completing the ground-up development at their new office to increase sales by over 40% in the past two years. “Colleen quickly established herself as the backbone of our operations,” Jimmy said. “It is important to recognize Colleen because, without her, we would not have experienced the growth and success we have over the last two years — she is able and trusted to handle whatever is thrown her way, which allows me and my team to focus on income-generating activities.”

Jimmy says that Colleen always has a smile on her face and views every challenge as an opportunity to overcome and grow. He appreciates her positive attitude and admires her community involvement in youth athletics. “In a word, Colleen is wonderful — everything about her,” he said.

“Most of our staff has been with us for over 15 years — Colleen was the first addition to our team in a long time, and there were concerns over finding the right fit for our growing operation,” Jimmy said. “I am thankful every day that we got it right with Colleen!”
