CashWiz TCI hosts annual back to school giveaway By Todeline Defralien CashWiz Pawn Shop which operates in both Grand Turk and Providenciales, hosted its annual back to school giveaway event. The events were held in Providenciales on Saturday August 24th from 11a.m. – 4 p.m. at the Turquoise Point Plaza; know as Robbie Been Plaza, Downtown 2005 pawn store location and on Saturday August 30th at Grand Turk’s location.

Students received backpacks, writing books, pencils, rulers, erasers, lunch boxes and more to start their new school year in style. Robert Been, local shareholder of CashWiz told The SUN that this year they will be catering to over 300 students on both Providenciales and Grand Turk. He said, “We’ve been doing this for the past few years and this time we have increased the number of back packs, lunch boxes and also added some extra school supplies. It’s all about the youth

The Amanyara Resort invites all suitable candidates to apply for the following positions: MARINE BIOLOGIST •Responsible for the Amanyara conservation initiatives; Turtle tagging, Adopt-a-Coral (reef restoration) and education outreach. •Guides the Amanyara turtle tagging trips and maintains/ communicates all reseach data in parternship with the Marine Conservation Society UK. •Develops onsite activities for guests such as kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, paddle-boarding, Sea bob etc. •Responsible for the protection of the coral reef, and protection of the marine and costal environment, removal of garbage that affects marine life •Educate guest on Marine life and ecosystems •Creates monthly “Words from our Marine Biologist” for guest arrival letter, Villa monthly newsletter and updates the Resort activity booklet annually or whenever appropriate. •Works with outside companies to ensure high level of service for guests when booking and following through on the activity. •Organises and delivers education outreach initiatives: presentations at schools, donations, creating partnerships with educational organisations related to Marine life. •Assists in organising Amanyara’s participation in select community events.

A lot of the parents actually came and said that they are grateful for the opportunity because they were lost and didn’t know where they were going to get the school supplies with all of the other bills that they were currently dealing with. This is actually a way to take away some of that pressure/load off of the parents moving forward. These bags are ready to go and the parents only have to purchase the kids’ text books.”

•Coordinates guest speakers and involvement with community/ research projects. •Adheres to all policies regarding environmental suistainability, health and safety, etc. and recommends changes when necessary. •Assist with the management of the day to day operation of the Nature Discovery Centre. •Implement strategic programs to enhance guest experience at the Nature Discovery Centre •Enforcing saftery measure that will protect the ecosystem Requirements: •At least a Bachelor’s degree in science/marine biology or related field •Minimum of 3 years in a marine science environment •PADI Master Dive Certificate, powerboat level two certification, CPR/EFR certification & driver’s license •Experience with the following watersports: kayaking, sailing, snorkeling, paddle-boarding •Must be a highly responsible, self-motivated, creative, energetic & physically fit •Proficient command (oral and written) of English; Portuguese, Spanish orGerman is an advantage Salary: $4300.00 per month, plus service charge *Candidates must be available to work 6 days a week, weekends, and holidays.
