LOVE IS AN INSIDE JOB
Valentine's Day on the approach, the visual abundance of decorative hearts wonderfully invite the question and inquiry of ‘What IS Love?’ ith
The wisdom of the Sufi poet Rumi deeply shaped my Inquiry with this directive; “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” This led me into a simple and potent practice of studying myself vigilantly, from morning to night, as I wanted to know for myself what my particular barriers were that would limit or block ‘Love’. I discovered that when I was truthful, patient, receptive, calm, present, tender, clear, flexible, and harmonious, I felt myself to be in a particular state of being that felt timeless, enduring, and unchanging. I could feel myself to be Seeing circumstances and others naturally through the lenses of the Eye of my Heart. Whenever access to that experience was blocked, the barrier was again, a way of Being, with the signatures of judgement, agitation, resentment, self serving, rigid, and criticism at the helm.
Fear. All of my patterns were emanations of only one or the other. I was either an expression of Love or attempting to hold onto/resist something from Fear. For the next two weeks, I invite you to test for yourself the question I married myself to regularly so I could discover the barriers I placed between myself and the experiences of Love; 1. ‘in this moment, am I looking/hearing through the lens of Fear or Love?’ 2. ‘What would my next step be if I could only look or listen through the lens of Love?’ By discovering and understanding our personal barriers to Love, we are birthed anew in Awareness, as Awareness affords is new choices. With these two questions, we ultimately get stripped down to our timeless, radiant self that is woven in and as the threads, the fabric of Love. This essence is our birthright, our magnificent and unified True Nature, for Love is Who we Are. Written by Daniela Hess, YogaFarm Director, Counselor, and Radiance Course Educator. have lost legs or claws during their present growth cycle, a new one will be present when they molt. If the large fiddle claw is lost, males will develop one on the opposite side after their next molt.
Fiddler crabs live rather brief lives of no more than two years (up to three years in captivity). Male fiddler crabs use the major claw to perform a waving display as a form of female courtship. Male versus male competition also occurs as a fighting with the major claws. If a male loses his larger claw, the smaller one will begin to grow larger and the lost claw will regenerate into a new (small) claw.
The fiddler crabs do best when given a place to get out of the water. I usually have them in a tank of part water, part land. Or I have a large floating plant they can crawl onto.
All crabs are scavengers and will eat most any fish food, I throw in some small shrimp pellets as these sink and the fiddlers can actually hold them in their claw and eat them.
Another type of crab found in aquariums is the red crabs. They do not have 1 big claw but rather 2 small claws which are kind of purple in color. Housing the 2 types together may result in fighting.
It became apparent that there are simply two distinct ways of being; we are either ‘Being Love’ or operating in response to

CORTLAND COUNTY HALL OF FAME 2018 INDUCTEES
Museum is seeking nominations for 2018 Inductees into our Cortland County Hall of Fame. We inducted 10 members as the Inaugural Class in 2016 and 5 members in 2017. This year’s goal is to add 5 more people whose achievements (in industry, public service, military, entertainment or many other ways) are worthy of honoring, plus showcase the rich history of Cortland County and our great country. Full procedures can be obtained from our website, https:// omeville
We encourage sharing and discussion on Facebook. However, this will not be considered a nomination, since it would be very difficult to ensure we saw and recorded names suggested this way, especially if our post was shared. Please use one of the methods listed above—emailed, mailed or dropped off at the CNY Living History Center. Nominations are due by February 28, 2018. Following the nomination phase, a panel of community members will review and select this year’s honorees. We are seeking volunteers and/or suggestions for members of this panel. Please use the contact information above, or call the CNY Living History Center at 607-2994185, if you would like to volunteer or suggest someone for the selection panel.

common of all cancers with over 5.4 million cases of non-melanoma skin cancer treated each year and climbing. Fortunately, it is also one of the easiest to cure when diagnosed and treated early. Several styles to choose from
Many people are familiar with the ABCDEs of melanoma: A – asymmetry, B – border, C – color, D – diameter, E – evolution. While melanoma is the deadliest type of skin cancer, many people do not know there are non-melanoma types of skin cancer such as basal cell carcinoma (BCC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) that show different characteristics. Non-melanoma skin cancers are slower growing than melanoma, but when left untreated they can affect an individual's quality of life. About 90% of non-melanoma skin cancers are associated with ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun, thus, the importance of daily application of a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher sunscreen. We can only see 50% of our skin, so it’s important to see a dermatologist to make sure the other 50% of your skin is monitored. A well-trained dermatologist or specialized dermatology physician assistant will use a device called a dermatoscope to look at the skin during your exam which magnifies 10x, allowing them to see possible abnormalities we may miss by just using our eyes. Dr. Josephine C. McAllister is a board-certified, Harvard trained dermatologist who has selectively chosen and mentored her team of five Physician Assistants with a mission to make dermatologic care more accessible to patients. They are excited to welcome patients to their new office, conveniently located in Cortland at 3773 Luker Road.

017 marked the fifth year anniversary of the opening of the CNY Living History Center and a lot has changed since 2012! Last year was perhaps one the best years the Center has experienced to date and that is all thanks to our members and volunteers. Both came together to build, curate, and organize the best exhibits this Center has ever housed. Each museum had its volunteers go above and beyond in every aspect and do something that they had never done before. Both members and volunteers came together to create some of the best exhibits yet!
before in the TOYs component and has become one of our exhibits with the most intriguing backstory! However, our exhibits aren’t the only things that have continued to get better and better each year. In 2017 the CNY Living History Center experienced a whole ten percent increase in overall admissions from the previous year! That means that our visitors love history just as much as we do! The museum continues to grow in many aspects each and every year, and our fifth year in business was an exceptional one. So we would like to give a special thank you to all of our visitors, members, and volunteers who constantly support us and allow us to bring history to life for all to enjoy! Also don’t forget to keep an eye for our 2018 exhibit reveal because we have many more ambitious projects coming your way, so stay tuned!
The Homeville Museum took on the ambitious project of constructing a full-scale WWI trench inside the museum. Complete with rats and sound effects, give the visitor a look into what life was like for those who fought over 100 years ago. In our Brockway Museum, we managed to break the record of most number of trucks on display with a full dozen. Previous years have seen nine and maybe sometimes even ten trucks on display but never a full dozen. Our volunteers pulled off a miracle by squeezing a whole two extra full-size Brockways on the floor! In the Tractors of Yesteryear Museum, members decided to show the legendary war of two brands: John Deere and International. Such a theme has never been curated
