OXFORD’S Old Fire Station’s first art exhibition of the year is underway, featuring the work of studio artist Jack Eden. Jack has divided up the gallery into an x axis and a y axis, which he has used as a way of calculating and understanding the architecture of the space. One axis separates the floor space into two, while the second, that measures the height of the gallery, acts as an architectural pillar and a totemic industrial sculpture. His artwork focuses on the dialogue between sculptural material and the simplicity of geometric forms, and looks at how one can affect the other. Speaking about his exhibition, Jack said: “I’m really excited about this show for lots of reasons. “Having spent so much time working at the Old Fire Station, it’s great to be able to show my work in a space I feel so comfortable in. “I feel like I’ve had a lot of time to consider the space and develop this idea with the sort of freedom rarely afforded to someone who’s so recently
