The Law Society of Tasmania The Society is a state-wide industry regulator and membership organisation. It is governed by an elected Council and is assisted by 10 committees of over 100 volunteers from the profession. See our website at lst.org.au. Prospective sponsors and advertisers have numerous marketing opportunities to the Tasmanian legal profession - sponsorship of social and CPD events; online advertising; and distribution of promo materials. This booklet guides you as a future advertiser and/or sponsor.

Conferences The Society's conferences are run as full or half-day events that focus on a particular area of law. These attract private practice legal practitioners, lawyers from government agencies, and in-house lawyers from several areas of practice including succession, wills and estates law, criminal law, property and commercial law, employment law, and litigation. Annual attendances at conferences and seminars reaches in excess of 2000 practitioners each year.

Events

Seminars Our CPD program covers a range of topics for legal practitioners of all levels of experience. The majority of seminars run one to two hours, with the occasional halfday workshops. These are held over the lunchtimes; mornings; or afternoons. Seminars generally address a single topic of relevance to our members at that time. Half-day workshops may cover a range of topics presented by pre-eminent speakers who are specialists in their field.

The Society hosts a number of social events a year. These events include the Annual Legal Profession Dinner to mark the opening of the legal year, the annual committee thank you dinner, annual President's dinners in the north and northwest, plus several networking opportunities that bring legal practitioners together to mark a particular occasion of relevance to the profession.

Engagement The Law Letter Journal is the Society’s journal for Tasmania's legal profession. Published by the Society, it is a significant way to reach members, and the broader legal community, including barristers, the judiciary, politicians and government practitioners.
