I hope this fresh school year finds you all renewed and inspired. I am excited to bring you another academic year’s worth of good news out of your schools and share your excellent work with our readers. We’re kicking off this issue with a cover story on the 86th Texas Legislature, an overview of what went down under the dome and how it relates to the work that you all do. Don’t miss that one, starting on page 20. This time of year, I find inspiration in all of the excited students returning to the classroom to dig into the hands-on and in-depth lessons their teachers have prepared for them. If you turn to page 38, you’ll read one such story out of Irving ISD, a student who participated in her school’s aviation science program and had a blast doing so. Of course, that’s just one example of the fantastic opportunities your Texas public schools offer their students.
