Memorial Stadium

Memorial Stadium on the campus of Tarleton State University was completed in 1977. Recent renovations to the west stands has increased seating capacity to 7,000 spectators for athletic events. The concrete bleachers rest against a dirt berm on the east (home) side of the field with a center section featuring 750 seats with back rests forming a purple “T”. The lower level features a concession stand with restrooms, while the press box resides on the upper level. The press box is heated and air-conditioned and is more than 100 feet long. It includes ample working space for press, scouts, sideline communications, film crews, statisticians, public address announcer, scoreboard operators, home and visitor radio stations, and a VIP room. The Memorial Stadium field surface got a new look in 2004 when artificial turf was added. The endzones are painted purple with white lettering: Tarleton in the south zone and Texans in the north zone. There is a block T in the middle of the field facing the home side. A jumbotron was also installed on the north end of the field with the old scoreboard being moved to the south end of the stadium. In 2006, a new restroom and concession area was built on the visitor’s side of the stadium. Oscar Frazier Memorial Track, an eight-lane, allweather track borders the artificial grass football field and is encircled by a chain link fence. The stadium is bordered east and west by hard-surfaced parking lots, north by the intramural complex, and south by the Physical Education Field Facility, completed in 1989. Memorial Stadium is easily accessible, as it is located north of Business 377 (West Washington Street) on Harbin Drive.
