The Mummers Parade takes place in Center City on New Years day. It was exciting to be there because part of Broad Street and the area by City Hall and Love Park are blocked off for the parade. It was fun to see all the different costumes and performances. My favorite was the candy themed group.
Advice for Prospective Students? Get involved starting freshmen year by finding a group or club on campus that you really like. Also, explore the area if you’re not from Philadelphia! There’s so many cool places in center city.

Advice for Prospective Students? Visit your top choice school before deciding. It sounds dorky but you really do get that feeling that the school is right for you. I was dead set on another school and only toured PhilaU because my parents made me, but from the moment I got here something just felt right. If your gut isn’t telling you that you belong, then it’s not the right school for you. Oh, and enjoy your senior year of high school because you will never get that time back!

There are so many parts of Philadelphia that I enjoy and so much I have yet to explore! But, one of my favorite places to visit is LOVE Park in Center City. Besides the magnificent view of the Ben Franklin Parkway and the Art Museums, I enjoy this hub bub spot for its liveliness! There are so many people from tourists to newlyweds to working city folk crossing through this square. Also, this is where many of my closest memories of being a START (Orientation) Leader were made. LOVE Park was the starting location in a city-wide scavenger hunt that we would be able to take new students on to get to know the city. Bonds and friendships were formed at the LOVE sign and I will never forget it!

This was a picture of me at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, running up the stairs Rocky-style of course. As an architecture student, I really love going to the art museum and exploring. There are some amazing installations of rooms representing a variety of times and cultures, my favorite being the ancient Hindu temple on the third floor. Saying hi to Rocky isn’t too bad either!
Advice for Prospective Students? Listen to your heart and go with your gut. You’ll know when something is right for you. Definitely get involved and be open to new opportunities. You never know what good is coming your way!

I think this is Board Game Art Park. I love running around this place. The positioning and accessibility of the art pieces provides for multiple forms of interaction. You can sit on them, jump over them or off them, or climb them. Also it’s right across the street from Love Park. The whole square is elevated from the street. It keeps you from the business of the city and allows you to stop and go at your own pace.

Advice for Prospective Students? My advice for future students is to make sure you spend time trying to figure out what you want in life. Getting good grades and working hard is all good, but you can’t be truly happy unless you know who you are and what your true goals are in life. Discover yourself and never be afraid to express who you really are inside. In a campus with so many diverse people, it isn’t hard to be exactly who you want to be.

The food was phenomenal served in a traditional Moroccan style. We knew it was going to be a great meal when they came out with rose water to wash our hands. Also we were surrounded by pillows. It was nice to eat a meal slowly and savor each dish, which is so unlike American style food. South Street was only a block away from the restaurant so its nice to plan a day walking around there and then going to Marrakesh in the evening.

My freshmen year a group of my friends and I went to Valanni, an upscale restaurant in Philadelphia’s City Center during Restaurant Week. The picture of me is with my awesome vegetarian paella. Since that delicious meal, we have taken advantage of Restaurant Week’s 35 dollar dinner option at some of Philadelphia’s most expensive restaurants. It’s a nice chance to get all dressed up and enjoy a wonderful meal.

In the fall of my freshman year, my life group took a tour to the Philadelphia Art Museum. I love the Art Museum because as a PhilaU student we get in for free. To pursue your dream job, if you work hard while attending Philadelphia University you will achieve everything and anything you want to do but you have to do your part to accomplish this. As prospective students, I would say you should definently ask a lot of questions! You want to make sure you are going to the school that matches your personality best! You have to be able to picture yourself at this school for the next 4 to 5 years of your life and be happy of your choice.

My advice to the perspective students would be to just be yourself! Everyone is in the same predicament that you are in and are scared/nervous/excited all in one rollercoaster of emotions. So put yourself out there for who you really are and let the rest fall into place. These next four years are going to fly by, and you have to enjoy them with people that you’ll never forget in a city that is full of life!
