Informed leadership

informed leadership supporting business activities

In November 2020, we started the Informed Leadership development project, the purpose of which is to combine available data and analytics to support decision-making.

Every company is constantly collecting an enormous amount of data through various means. Quickly structuring collected information into a readable format and effectively utilising it in the company’s decision making is a vital factor in the company’s efficiency and profitability.

In November 2020, we launched the Informed Leadership development project aimed at putting together financial, production, safety and other information by producing clear and easily usable monitoring tools for different interest groups throughout the organisation.

In practice, staff groups are given a digital desktop tailored to their roles on which they can find all the monitoring information they need to make decisions. Monitoring might display information about safety, finances, efficiency, staff and, for example, equipment maintenance.

Towards the end of 2020, we were able to specify the project’s scope, schedule, resources, targets and outputs and define user requirements relating to safety. Safety was a natural choice to focus on for the first part of the project. The completed safety monitoring instruments for different interest groups were adopted in March 2021. After this, the project focused on defining user requirements for the purposes of maintenance.

In Finland, 2021 is the Year of ResearchBased Knowledge – a theme that fits excellently with our ongoing project. It is said that there is always demand for research, and this also holds true when it comes to a company’s operational activities and management, as current, correct and sufficient information creates a solid basis for decision-making within a company.
