Resistant to salt and subzero temperatures, GEOFIX GF1 is a fast-setting patching material for pothole patching, especially in cold conditions.
• ecological recycling material-based
• many times more sustainable than cold asphalt patching
PRODUCT DESCRIPTION
Application
Recommended layer thickness
• usable in subzero temperatures (-10°)
• resistant to salt and subzero temperatures
• cost-effective in the long term
Pothole patching
At least 10 mm
Useful life approx. 2–10 minutes from mixing at temperatures of -10 to +20˚C
Ready to be driven on 1–30 minutes, depending on the temperature
Operating temperature -10 to +20˚C
Mixing
The GEOFIX dry substance is mixed with water just before patching. Amount of water approx. 6%–7% of the amount of dry substance (1.2–1.4 L/20 kg bag of dry compound)
Aggregate Cold asphalt, recycled asphalt, relative to crushed rock or natural rock material
Binding agent
Cold-resistance
Storage
Occupational safety
Freezing-thawing resistance
Adhesion to old asphalt
Resistance to studded tyre-related wear and tear
Slipperiness
PPE
Geopolymer
Resistant to salt and subzero temperatures (>25 cycles)
Store the bags in a dry place.
See the detailed instructions at the end of the work instruction or in the safety data sheet.

Tested using the PRALL test
Pendulum test
1. Avoid breathing in dust and use a respirator when mixing binding agent components.
2. Use protective goggles while you work. If dust or splashed patching material gets into your eyes, rinse them immediately under running water. If the irritation continues, see a doctor.
3. Use protective gloves and protective clothing. If your skin comes into contact with the patching material, wash it off with abundant soap and water.
4. Use personal protective equipment appropriate for the site.
Preparation Of The Pothole
Use a brush or compressed air to clear the pothole as well as the edges of the road pavement of loose materials, debris, snow, water, sand, ice, etc.
If necessary, divert water away from the pothole using absorption pipes, for example.
Mixing At The Site
1. Estimate the amount of patching material mixed at once based on the size of the pothole. Avoid making the batch too big.
2. Preparing the batch: mix the dry substance with the correct amount of water.
3. Use equipment, such as a vertical-shaft mixer, mixer drill or shovel to mix the material for a minimum of 1 minute.
4. Use the material within roughly 5 minutes, depending on the conditions and amount of water. The recommended operating temperature is roughly +20˚C at the maximum and -10˚C at the minimum. The useful life is shorter in higher temperatures and longer in colder temperatures.
Work Stages
1. Pour at least a 10 mm layer of the patching material from the mixing vessel into the pothole.
2. Spread the material immediately after mixing into the pothole using, e.g. a trowel or shovel and level off the material.

3. Do not add water into the material if it becomes hard before it is used. Instead, mix a new batch.
4. Seal the patching material in the pothole using a vibrator, tamper, shovel, etc.

5. If necessary, cover the pothole with a traffic cone for approximately 15

30 min. The temperature and amount of water affect the setting time.
