FOUNDATION PRESIDENT PROFILE: PHILIP C. SKROBARCZYK As president of the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Foundation, Philip C. Skrobarczyk, owner of Fulton*Coastcon General Contractors, has taken a hands-on leadership approach to providing scholarship dollars, which are critical to attracting top students to the Island University. While he believes the University is unique due to its location on its own island, he also knows it is unique in its approach to higher education. This knowledge is what drives Skrobarczyk, who says, “at the Island University, students are afforded the opportunity to gain valuable, hands-on experience in research and creative activity because of a highly effective 23 to1 student-to-faculty ratio.”

The prestige of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi is known worldwide. It boasts such accolades as being one of only six federally designated test sites for unmanned promote the growth, quality and aircraft systems (UAS) in the nation, through the Lone Star UAS Center of Excellence and Innovation. He has donated funds to the University both personally and through his company. Skrobarczyk has established an endowed scholarship in engineering, contributes to the Islander Athletic Fund, the Parents’ Council, the President’s Council and is a member of the Achieve Partnership. Physically, Fulton*Coastcon also leaves a lasting impression on the University, as it leads the construction project of Tidal Hall, the new life sciences and engineering building. Mirroring Skrobarczyk’s personal values, the Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Foundation’s mission is to promote the growth, quality and effectiveness of Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. The Foundation now manages a portfolio of more than $40 million. These funds have allowed for significant contributions to the development of the Corpus Christi campus—funding scholarships, scientific research, chairs and professorships, construction projects and improvements in classroom technology.
