Onkabetse Care Centre, a non profitable organisation based in Vosloorus, founded by Mpho Mazamane hosted a charity benefit concert at Vosloorus stadium last week Saturday. The benefit concert was aimed at raising funds for Onkabetse Care Centre which assists and looks after children who are HIV positive, victims of rape and abuse. The centre has 102 children and aims to expand to accommodate more children. 20 Blankets were donated for the centre on the day. Mpho Mazamane was overwhelmed with the over role support displayed by the community of Vosloorus and different companies that bought tickets. “Tickets were bought on the day of the event and they came out in numbers to support our charity organisation.” She said some of the artists did not perform due to the misunderstanding which was caused by the change in management of the event organisers. Mazamane pleads with the community and apologies for the fact that the artists did not perform. “This was my first big event and there is still a room for improvement and I promise that the next event will be more organised and all artists will perform.” She said Local artists performed at the event along with the big stars such as Kidx and Ihashi Elimhlophe. Amongst the artists that performed was a group of young people called Sounds of Jozi. The group consist of young people who are energetic and passionate about music. Sbongakonke Makhathini member of the group said, “We are honoured to be performing and uplifting the community. We were told that charity begins at home and we want to start here in our community giving back our God given talents.”
