“With the guidance of a passionate teacher, Dan Vaillancourt, I was sold on the life of a musician. I was a quick study on the classical guitar and became obsessed with its beauty and versatility,” says Keenan. Being a part of a musical family helped shape the road for Allan. He describes

music as being ingrained in his life for as long as he can remember. “The particular moment I can recall, that I wanted music as a career, was when I began performing with my high school concert band at the age of fifteen,” Allan says. The trio has performed in several types of venues, ranging from pubs to festivals to world-class halls. Their most prestigious concerts were during the summers of 2013 and 2014, where they toured the Netherlands, Italy and Germany. The group is proud to be playing on handcrafted super concert classical guitars. These special pieces were created by Jereon

Hilhorst, a luthier (a maker of stringed instruments). He works out of Amsterdam, Netherlands. While the group does not have a released album, they have been working on building up a project, which they’re eyeing to drop by the summer of 2017. While it’s a struggle with licensing for pop music arrangements they wish to play for their album, they also say they’re searching for “what we want to say on our first CD.” So far, eight works have been written for the trio by composers, from both the United States and the Netherlands. They’re currently looking for Canadian composers, to help complete their project. “The scarcity of Canadian trio music is rather shocking actually,” the group states. “We always wanted the Sudbury Guitar Trio to be a unique classical guitar ensemble; one that breaks down musical barriers and celebrates the guitar by the music we play.”
