After a few tough seasons it was a bit of a relief to have had summer rain and finally feed ahead of us. Anyone who has moved Districts may understand the challenges faced when taking over a new farm and the processes of learning what works and what doesn’t. The bulls are a reflection of both the year we’ve had and the new systems we are putting in place and we’re pretty happy with how they are looking.

In November 2020 Burtergill & Aschwood South Devons joined $PROFIT.

Created by Lee Leachman $PROFIT is one of the largest and most accurate multi-breed databases for temperate region cattle in the world.

The Leachman analysis currently includes over 1,500,000 animals worldwide. The database includes pure bred and composite cattle in the UK, Australia, New Zealand and North America. Dozens of leading breeders around the world are using $PROFIT to produce higher productivity animals.

Whilst we have confidence in our cattle, we joined because we wanted to show that they do stack up against any other breed. . It was rewarding to discover that many of our animals (both male and female) were in the top 25% of the 1.5 million animals analysed.

$PROFIT also gives us the ability to select global genetics that will further improve our herd and pay dividends for our clients.

Every one of our animals have now been genomically tested and have both a $PROFIT value and full set of Breed Plan EBV’s.

It is with much pleasure we present this year’s line up of bulls and offer them for sale –as always ‘there is a bull there to suit everybody.’

The bulls will be displayed at West Melton for the Canterbury Bull walk on the 24th of May 2023 before being moved to Taimate, where they can be viewed by appointment, in the week prior to sale.

This year all bulls have been genomically tested, capacity tested, semen tested, are BVD negative and have been BVD vaccinated.
