Just try to resist. we double-dog dare you. Some places on earth are so majestic, eclectic, electric and iconic that they draw you in with an irresistible force. Lake Tahoe is one of those places. It starts with a dazzling of the senses when you get your first look at the natural beauty that’s absolutely everywhere. There’s the startling blue of that incredible lake. The bright-white brilliance of endless snow. The towering mountains set against a sapphire sky. You open your eyes wide and take it all in. You’re hooked. And that’s just the beginning.

excellence

THE SKIING AND RIDING ARE WORLD CLASS. You could travel the world and never even come close to the Lake Tahoe experience. We’re home to a dozen and a half spectacular resorts—so many, in fact, that you can ski and ride every day for weeks and never hit the same run twice. Think about that for a minute. Kinda makes your tips cross, doesn’t it?

rev it up or wind it down. the choice is yours. Our incredible snow isn’t limited to skiing and riding. After all, with some of of the finest snowfall in the country, why stop there? Lake Tahoe offers a fun-packed assortment of mountain activities, including snowtubing, ice skating, ski biking, dogsledding, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling.

YEp, world cla Off mountain, you can feed your creative side with a visit to a museum or an art exhibit. Get winter festival, complete with a ski-run torchlight parade. Or simply find a great place to sit, feel Tahoe’s legendary sun on your face, and admire the breathtaking scenery. If gaming is on your list, you can enjoy it in both Reno and Lake Tahoe. Try your luck at blackjack, poker, Pai Gow, roulette, and craps. Go one-on-one with a one-armed bandit. When the sun goes down, the region’s nightlife comes up. Catch performances by headlining singers, musicians, comics, and dancers. Check out all the bells and whistles of an extravagant stage show, or tone it down in an intimate cabaret or lounge. If you just want to savor the quiet beauty of the night, experience the magnificence of your surroundings with a sleigh ride under the stars.

SO... LET’S TALK SNOWFALL, SHALL WE? At Lake Tahoe, you can always count on an average of 500 inches of snowfall year after year. For those non-math-whizzes out there, that’s more than 41 feet—about the height of a four-story building. In 2010-11, the snow gods decided to outdo themselves and bless us with a season that can best be described as epic. Record shattering. Utterly outrageous. For the second consecutive year, lifts were operational by early November and stayed that way through Independence Day. By the time the seasonal fun wrapped up in July, snowfall totals had exceeded 66 feet. What makes the massive snowfall even more amazing is the fact that the region still averages about 300 days of sunshine each year. So you get to enjoy the best of both worlds, and we get to bask in the abiding love Mother Nature obviously has for us. Can we absolutely, positively, unconditionally promise more of the same for 2011-12? Nope. But with a track record like this, are you willing to even think about vacationing anywhere else?

Hit the ground running. The idea behind a vacation is to relax. De-stress. And maybe turn off about two-thirds of your brain. That’s why we make sure you can get around Lake Tahoe without having to think twice. Three major all-weather freeways, Interstate 80 and U.S. Highways 50 and 395, provide easy access to every place you might possibly want to go. So whether your destination is North Shore, South Shore, or Reno, you can get there with ease.

If you’re not in the mood to drive, just hop on a local bus, grab a taxi, or take advantage of one of the convenient resort shuttles. Do yourself and the lake a favor by taking the Blue Warrior Water Shuttle, which services the North and East shores. One hundred percent of the net proceeds go directly to the

Need proof? Here are just a few of the things you can expect during the winter season. You’ll just have to show up to find out the rest.
