LIVING LIBRARY
DON’T JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER
The Living Library contains ‘Living Books’ (people on loan), who are taken out by the Reader (person borrowing the Book) for 30 minutes to explore the Book’s topic. This enables Books to tell their stories and their Reader to break stereotypes by challenging prejudices in a positive and often humorous manner. The library is designed to promote dialogue, reduce discrimination, encourage understanding and widen views on life, in a space set up for interaction through one-on-one conversation. The Living Library breaks down barriers so that communities can build tolerance and understanding of one another, even if they don’t agree with each other’s chosen way of life.
