(preceding spread) A landscaped plaza and loggia help stitch together the eastern facades of the older structure, shown at left, and the new addition to SFA’s Baker Patillo Student Center. (opposite page, top and bottom) A pedestrian ‘street’ organizes the three-story commons within the addition. The architects met with stakeholders, including students and members of the surrounding community, to determine the program for amenities and services, including a food court on the ground floor. (this page) Another component of the project, a five-story parking garage, stands immediately to the south of the student center.
