This article is designed to describe the reasons why you might want to upgrade to the Microsoft Windows 7 operating system. The various incarnations of the Microsoft Windows operating system have been at the forefront of software technology for so long that many people have taken for granted the advancements that Microsoft have made with every new operating system that they have released and each individual service pack. A service pack is a major upgrade to an operating system provided for free to all users of the operating system via Microsoft's online download centre. Microsoft Windows 7 is no different, it has been redesigned from the ground up to both operate more efficiently with PC hardware and to be even more user friendly. Here is a quick overview of the features of Microsoft Windows 7: Native 64bit support Whether your hardware is 64bit or 32bit based Windows 7 is optimised to get the most from it straight from installation. User interface The user interface has been drastically improved upon, based upon the research undertaken by Microsoft to discover how an individual uses their computer and how to best optimise a task without hindering the novice users ability to interface with the operating system. Driver support Windows 7 has further extended the already massive driver support that Microsoft has offered with each of its operating systems, allowing a user to simply plug and play their hardware devices effortlessly. Wizards Microsoft's famous setup wizards are even easier to use and specifically designed to be used by a novice, and intended to limit the learning curve of a user, allowing them to become a power user from the beginning. Gaming Windows 7 has improved support for gamers, offering effortless integration with online and multiplayer gaming over a local LAN or the wider internet. Security Security has been a major issue for most people, fearing that they may be at risk when connected to a network or whilst online. Windows 7 has placed this concern almost above all others and has greatly improved the operating systems ability to perceive and prevent potential threats before

they ever have a chance to impact upon a user. This extends from Explorer all the way through to the improved Firewall and network setup facilities, even Internet Explorer has had a major overhaul to improve its security features, preventing everything from phishing sites to downloaded viruses. New improved parental controls allow a parent to prevent their little ones from encountering anything that they would not want them to, both local files and internet content. FUNky features Computers have lost their fun, and Windows 7 is trying to make it fun and effortless again by including some innovative feature improvements in the way a user can navigate and operate the system. We have all by now seen the 7 second adverts for Windows 7, and I can tell you that those features are as easy and fast to use as they claim. As you can see from the above quick overview of Windows 7 it is clear that Microsoft has placed a lot of time and effort into making this the best operating system possible. One of the key improvements of this operating systems release over those of 7's predecessors is that Microsoft decided to run a beta trial of the operating system, a free trial version of the operating system released before the final version in order to find and fix any problems found. This gained the development team some valuable insights into problems encountered by real users and user feedback that proved invaluable to the production process of Windows 7. Conclusion I have personally used Microsoft Windows operating systems since Windows 3.1 back in the day, 'ahhh the memories' I hear some of you say. Up until recently I have constantly used XP and have found it a rewarding environment to work and play within, but Windows 7 has converted me, almost instantly from the time I installed it to the first few fondles with it, as I navigated my way around its sleek user interface. Setting up the system with Windows 7 was effortless and the operating system seemed to make more out of my hardware, running through installation packages faster than even XP could, even setting my wireless internet connection was a simple affair without any upset. My machine now hums along effortlessly doing my bidding, just the way computing should be. I believe that once anyone tries Windows 7 out that they will not want to go back to the way that they used to have to control an operating system, they will want the Windows 7 interface and its ease of use, they will want to enjoy computing again and never stop enjoying it. Windows 7 is a must have for anyone and everyone.
