Welcome to this year’s offering of Speckle Park bulls here at JSF. As we have increased our numbers of purebred cows in the last number of years, one thing still remains the same – quality and consistency. Culling rates are high, as only the highest quality makes the cut in terms of feet, structure, overall body type and temperament. This year’s bulls are a true statement of what we are striving for every year at our place and you will see in our sire groups that they follow the patterns of the sires along with high maternal traits from their mothers as well.

With our involvement in the Speckle Park breed for over 10 years now, we have seen so many opportunities moving forward in both the commercial and purebred industries; yet there are still some skeptics out there and we are showing them year to year that Speckle Park cattle are improving in all aspects at a very rapid rate. In many talks with commercial producers that have been using Speckle Park bulls for many years, each and every one have seen improvements in not only the bulls they have purchased and the quality of their calves, many have seen a dramatic change in their cows as the percentage of Speckle Park increases within their herd. I was told by not just one, but by multiple cattlemen and women, that they can see the feed efficiency grow from year to year. They had seen a savings of 10 lbs/day/cow on winter feed and are able to run more cows on summer grazing without increasing land acres. To me, this is what our industry needs to push, put more dollars in your pocket. The proof is in the pudding. Here at JSF, we try to add as much value to the stats as we can. We strive to follow carcass traits and internal data through Cup ultrasound and Q-Select testing to give our customers the best product we can to increase production in their operation. Please go through the data through the book to better understand the information and trials we are doing here at JSF to better your bottom line. We use our own bulls in our commercial herd so we have a better understanding of what they will do for you, the customer. In saying that, we will have a selection of two year old bulls not in the sale book that we have used on our own operation in these trials for sale as well. Happy New Year from JSF
