On Monday 26th June, the club held its presentation evening. Cheques were presented to local charities Thrummy Drummer and Age Concern Syston. Previous recipients of donations attended and each had an opportunity to describe their charity or cause. These included Syston Station Adopters; Rainbows; Mosaic Narrow Boat for Disabled; Soar Valley Food Bank, Buzzing Roots, Age Concern Syston, Cedar Care Café and Together Against Cancer. Also, the Alan Morley award was presented to Peter Bates of Age Concern, see picture below. past member of Wreake Valley Rotary Club and is awarded to someone who has gone the extra mile in supporting the community. This is very apt for Peter who is a volunteer driver for Age Concern Syston.

The evening finished with a sumptuous buffet provided by the Royal British Legion, Birstall and those present were able to network and share information with each other.

Wreake Valley Rotary Club meets on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month at the Royal British Legion, Front Street, Birstall and everyone is welcome to join us.
