New agendas

Breaking the traditional mould and shifting price/performance benchmarks are what Systematic defence products are all about. Our defence products fit perfectly into the new budget-capped acquisition programmes and force deployments that are increasingly dependent on interoperability.

The compliancy pay-off

Modern defence operations involve dramatically new agendas, often with a multinational focus. Consequently, military operations and exercises are often conducted side by side with forces from other nations. The days of bespoke national C2 backbones – preferably home-grown and tailored to national preferences and legacy installations – are over. Long, expensive development cycles are a luxury no one can now afford with defence purchasing under increasing public scrutiny. Defence organisations have to do more with less.

New approaches

All this requires a new approach to the design of different kinds of equipment and systems, with greater emphasis on digital infrastructure and tackling the rapidly changing needs for integration with new equipment and capabilities.

Effective customer support is essential for maximum availability as well as low cost of ownership.

Structured support

Our support organisation is designed to comply with international standards and best-practice procedures that make sure that nothing falls between the cracks. Systematic Defence Customer Support uses world-class tools and procedures to make sure we deal with your queries promptly and efficiently. Our support extends from our direct customers right through to helping our partners deliver the best possible service.

The IRIS suite of software products unite different systems, and different nations, by using agreed international standards to exchange information.

Managing the communication flow Talking the same language

With more than 100,000 users in over 30 countries worldwide, the IRIS software framework is now the de facto standard for military messaging. IRIS products provide you with combat-proven messaging capabilities, with all the benefits of 15+ years of practical experience built in.

Being able to pass orders and reports back and forth is the cornerstone of all military operations. Interoperability between nations, services and equipment is a mission critical factor. To get any task done correctly, everyone concerned has to be able to rely on messages being delivered to the right parts of the organisation quickly. It is also important to use data structures that make sure the contents are clearly understood, so the right action can be taken.

Standards management

At the heart of the whole concept of interoperability is the need for effective management and maintenance of the information exchange standards.

Procurement organisations

IRIS Standards Management software provides organisations with a central tool for the definition, management and analysis of such key data, making sure it can be moved from one system to another. Each organisation is able to manage its own standards, at the same time as collaborating with other stakeholders in the information exchange domain.

www.systematic.com/irissuite

Message Text Format (MTF)

The multitude of messaging formats used in organisations throughout the world result in significant interoperability challenges. To tackle these chaellenges, substantial resources have been invested in establishing agreed formal structures and stan足dards for data exchange. These make it possible to reduce the ambiguity of natural-language communication and enhance opportunities for automated message processing.

Ensuring data quality

Reports and returns are an essential feature of all military communications. The IRIS suite includes tools that ensure messaging data is compliant with international standards which provides extensive user support to reduce errors. IRIS software ensures military information is consistently managed on the basis of organisational structures, tasks, roles and ranks.

Automated data processing

Military C2 systems have to be capable of automatically processing the information received in the form of reports and messages, so that this constant flow of new data can be merged into databases and displayed on maps and other visual platforms. IRIS products provide the messaging infrastructure that makes this happen.

At the core of these efforts is the NATO ADatP-3 Message Text Format standard and the MIL-STD-6040 USMTF programme, supplemented by the new XML-MTF standard. Together, these formats cover a significant portion of all the structured text information used in military operations. They include a managed repository of meta-data describing over 200 hierarchically structured text documents, featuring more than 5,000 standard data element definitions.
