NATIONAL POLICY UPDATES Life Cycle Analysis Comparison – Electric and Internal Combustion Engine Vehicles On January 25, the Fuels Institute released a report that evaluates the life cycle environmental impact of three vehicle types – electric (BEV), internal combustion (ICEV), and hybrid (HEV) – at each stage of their life, from material sourcing through operations to end of life. It also compares the energy sources that power the different kinds of vehicles and the effect of external variables on life cycle carbon emissions and the corresponding total cost of ownership.
