Monday Night Social Club Ages 13 and up Middle school students, high school students, and young adults from the special needs population can enjoy a variety of activities while meeting new friends in an informal, supervised format. Each week has a different theme or activity and special events are planned seasonally. The group will enjoy birthday celebrations, seasonal crafts, pool, air hockey, mini golf, games in the park and semi-annual holiday celebrations and dances. Please call the Parks & Recreation Department for more information.

Youth Badminton Training Ages 5yrs- 21yrs Experience the fastest racket sport in the world and train with former USA National Badminton Team member, Nikki Vered. Nikki has been playing for over 25 years and for the past 11 years he’s been the Program Director/Head Coach of Marblehead Youth Badminton, an established program in MA. He has produced multiple national and International champions and now hopes to start a competitive Badminton Club here in his home state of CT. This program is designed to provide quality badminton training by incorporating a variety of coaching techniques and drills that Nikki has learned and picked up along the way. You will learn the basics and fundamentals of Badminton, strategies and game play, as well as advanced technical skills, while at the same time exhibiting court etiquette and sportsmanship. Come join a fun, friendly, and competitive program that accepts all levels from Beginners to Advanced.
Time Slots/Days: April start date Monday, Wednesday, and Saturdays 5:30 – 6:45pm: (Ages 5-12 years old- Can be flexible with older players needing this time slot) 6:45 – 8:00pm: (Ages 13-21 years old- Can be flexible with younger players needing this time slot) Monday’s X 1 Month -$80 Wednesday’s X 1 Month - $80 Saturday’s X 1 Month - $80 Location: Ellsworth Gym Coordinators: Nick Vered Youth and Adult – Badminton Open Session Play 13 and up Enjoy playing the fastest racket sport – Badminton, with your family and others. Whether you are new to the sport or a seasoned player, please join us during “Open Session” play twice a week. All youth must always be supervised by an adult. Please bring your own racket and birdie. We have very limited supplies of rackets that will be lent the first couple of visits. Birdies will not be provided for any of the “Open Session” play. Non marking shoes are an absolute must. Absolutely NO street shoes please.

*We have wonderful volunteers and contractors who support our open gym program. To ensure we respect their time, if no one is present for “Open Session” play for 30 minutes upon opening, the gym will be closed for the night.
Adult and Youth Jukido Jujitsu Ages 6 and up Emphasis is on “doing one’s best” with the accent on self-defense and perseverance. Participants will learn counter measures against aggression, fight prevention and bully management. A free first try-out class is available. Note: After the student’s first successful test, there is an additional annual association fee of $50 (16 and under) or $75 (17& over). Uniforms are not mandatory. Track Club Kids Grade K-8 Our low-key running program will put some spring into your step and build your confidence for other sports. This twice a week funfilled program of running, sprinting, hurdling, trail running and field events including the turbo-jav, discus, high jump, long jump and softball throw. Participate in track/cross country meets against other towns. Learn some fundamentals of good health and exercise while getting into running shape. A t-shirt is included. Please note that some organized track meets may fall on different days of the week than the program is typically scheduled.

Fitness Club (Grades 6-8, TE Students Only) R
This indoor program is aimed at helping middle school students enhance their physical fitness and expand upon exercise and strength training knowledge. Students will be encouraged to create realistic fitness goals and then work with the instructor to create an individual workout.

Kinder Tap Ages 5-7 This class is an introduction to basic tap and jazz techniques. Rhythmic exercise enhances children’s memory, musical awareness, and coordination. Students will need their own tap shoes. Students must be entering or attending kindergarten or first grade.
Session 1: Tuesdays, 7/7-7/28, 11:00am – 11:45am, $75 Location: Dance Progressions Studio, 259 Sullivan Ave. Zumba for Kids Ages 5-8 This high energy fitness class combines physical fitness with hip hop and world music. The program is designed to increase focus and self-confidence, boost metabolism and improve coordination. Participants will develop independent athletic skills and learn how to work together as a group while enjoying popular music and the latest dance moves!

Pre-Ballet Ages 3-5 Pre-Ballet is a wonderful introduction to the world of dance! We use imaginative games and mime to provide a sound foundation for future dance education. Students learn how to work both independently and as a group.

NEW BOYS HIP HOP Ages 9-12 This is an introductory dance class for students wishing to learn basic hip hop skills using popular music. No prior experience required.

Food Explorers – Baking Edition Grades 2–6 Learn how to make your baked goods delicious and healthy in this four week class! We’ll explore new techniques, and learn how to make healthy and nutritious ingredient swaps while we make all new muffins, cookies, quick breads and savory biscuits. The instructor, Katie Shepherd, is a Registered Dietitian who created her program Food Explorers as a way to introduce children to healthy eating with a hands-on approach. All recipes will be nut free but may contain eggs and dairy.

NEW Food Explorers - Pasta Workshop!
Grades 3-7 Spend an evening learning how to make pasta from scratch! Join a Registered Dietitian and learn the ins and outs of kneading, rolling and filling ravioli and also making your own fettuccine. You’ll fill the ravioli with a delicious cheesy filling, and toss the fettuccine in a homemade (nut-free) pesto. Program will be nut free but will contain dairy and eggs.
