ROLF LYSSY DIRECTOR
Rolf Lyssy’s film THE SWISSMAKERS (1978) has remained the most successful Swiss comedy of the past 60 years. Born in 1936, the director’s career began in 1964, working on films by Reni Mertens and Walter Marti as well as Alain Tanner. His initial recognition as a director and author was with KONFRONTATION (1975), the story of an NSDAP group leader who was assassinated in Davos. His 50-year creative phase has resulted in a multifaceted œuvre with fiction and documentary films. In his book “Swiss Paradise” Lyssy processed the life crisis he experienced as a filmmaker at the end of the 1990s. In 2012 he received the Honorary “Quartz” Award of the Swiss Film Awards.
