In the summer of 2013, an over 2,500-year-old statue of Apollo is found in the nets of a fisherman in Gaza. The statue vanishes, leaving plenty of room for speculation: hidden in a tunnel, held hostage by armed groups, destroyed by fundamentalists, or sold to international traffickers of art. Proven or imagined, the most absurd hypotheses circulate on the subject.

In 1877 a Swiss aristocrat, Alfred von Rodt, became the king of a remote Chilean island. He ruled for 30 years over a handful of fishermen and thousands of goats. Nowadays his descendants, proud of their Swiss origins, dream of becoming politically independent and think about limiting the emigration. From the utopia of small kingdom to the dream of self-government, this island is a laboratory and a metaphor.

A mild summer night in a beautiful home. The former circle of friends meets for the first time after college graduation for an after party, following a class meeting. Above the joy of the reunion, the presence and the past are interacting. In the seemingly superficial chatter old themes glimmer through and over the exuberant mood lies a dark shadow. The “cause” is 25 years back and was part of the reason for the sudden break-up.
