The Boys Brigade could be coming to West Swindon - if there is enough interest from local youngsters. But according to Boys Brigade captain Eddy Camp of Toothill, there should not be a problem in getting a company off the ground. "There have been many enquiries at Toothill Church over the last few months and I'm pretty sure we have the core of a company. After our first meeting on 9th September, two groups will meet on Friday evenings. These will be: 6-8 year olds between 6p.m. and 7.30p.m. and 8-11 year olds between 6.30p.m. and 7.30p.m.
The first meeting will be an evening of fun and an introduction to the BB. The staff will be available afterwards to answer questions from parents." The Boys Brigade is a church based youth organisation which concentrates on games, Sports, adventure activities and Christian teaching. As an adult leader in the Brigade for 20 years, Eddy Camp is very experienced in the running of activites. He can be contacted on 487214 before the meeting. The first meeting of the West Swindon Boys Brigade company will take place from 6.30p.m to 8p.m. on Friday 9th September in Toothill Church.
New Group for New Mums
New Times at Toothill Advice Point
Mums with first babies living in Toothill will soon have a new group to go to. First time mums Joy and Jeanette, who both live in flats and want something to do have decided to set up the 'first-timers' group and want others to join them. They have booked Toothill Farm community hall on Bodiam Drive for Tuesdays between 2p.m and 4p.m. and will be welcoming mums who have had babies during the last eighteen months to join them for coffee and gossip. The first meeting will take place on 13th September. They know that some mums may be shy about joining in, so they will be happy to pop round beforehand to introduce themselves. From Thursday 8th September, Toothill Advice Point will be open on Thursday afternoon from 1p.m. to 3p.m. in addition to Tuesday morning from 10a.m. to 12 noon. The Advice Point offers help with all Welfare Benefits, debt problems, unemployment etc. and is also there to offer free confidential help or advice on a wide range of subjects. If they cannot help you with specific problem they can put you in touch with the people who can. So if you are young, old, disabled, pregnant, unemployed, widowed (or a bit of each!) then they are there to help you, at Toothill Community Centre every Tuesday morning, and now, Thursday afternoon as well.

The Link was very sorry to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Mildred Blaxhall of Kirkstall Close, Toothill. Readers will have read about Mrs. Blaxhall in the April edition's'Day in the Life' written by her husband Charles. Our condolences go to Mr. Blaxhall in his time of bereavement.
