2023 Starts In True Swindon Town Fashion LINK FOOTBALL

an outpouring of grief from the fan base. Normally this is due to the fact that the manager would’ve made a great impression at the club. However, Lindsey made few impressions in his short tenure at SN1. Despite leaving Town in the play-offs his departure was greeted with relief. But why was this the case? To begin with, the style of play under Lindsey was tough to watch. The football lacked attacking intent and free flowing passing. This led to many fans feeling shortchanged after shelling out the pennies on a ticket. It was also widely noticed that Lindsey’s in-game management could be questionable. These factors meant that supporters were rapidly losing faith in his ability to steer the club towards promotion. Therefore his unexpected departure allows the team to find a manager more suited towards the task in hand. At the time of writing Swindon are still searching for their 27th manager since 2000. But one thing is for certain, whoever fills the vacancy will have a chance to work with royalty. That’s right, after nearly 12 years away from The County Ground legendary striker Charlie Austin has returned. The now 33-year-old has signed a six month deal having left the sunny climes of Australia. In his first spell in a Town shirt Austin hit prolific figures, almost firing Swindon

Free Family Learn to Ride and Cycle Confidence Events

Swindon Cycle Campaign has received grant funding through Sports England and Sustrans to help support local people to learn to cycle.

With the Together Fund grant we’re planning four ‘Family Learn to Ride and Cycle Confidence’ free events throughout the year. They will aim to offer a hub of support and advice for anyone interested in getting cycling.

We aim to help anyone gain the skills and confidence to make journeys by bike. A range of cycles and helmets will be available to borrow as well as support for participants in finding a low-cost bike of their own. Alongside sessions for adults and teens, Paul Ashman will be running children’s skills sessions which will cover everything from balancebike skills to learning to cycle, and cycling confidence on pedal bikes. There will be free basic bike repairs, bike security marking and local experts on hand, along with a programme of free guided rides tailored to novice riders.

The events will be inclusive for all. Advice and support will be accessible for disabled people on adapted cycles, and opportunities to try a range of family cycling accessories to help you get cycling with children. These opportunities will focus on people who may have been more adversely affected during the covid-19 pandemic and during the current cost of living crisis, but the events will be open to all.

Riding a bike is a great low-cost mode of transport with health, social and environmental benefits. However many people, particularly women, lack the confidence to make trips by bike, and others never had the opportunity to learn as a child.

We’re hoping to work with local organisations to provide low-cost bikes to those who need them, to help more people see the benefits that riding a bike can bring for health, to the Championship. Despite being on the decline it’s hoped that Austin can roll back the years and fire the Robins to promotion. On his homecoming Austin picked up where he left off to open the scoring with a trademark header. What better way to celebrate the return of the King than a coronation come May? transport and independent travel. The events will take place at the County Ground Athletics Track – where the Wheels for All disability cycling sessions are held. They will be scheduled during the school holidays, with daytime, weekend and early evening sessions planned. There will also be 1:1 and private group cycle confidence sessions bookable. Based off the last month and general life at STFC we can safely predict that the next 11 months won’t be dull. Supporting Swindon is an emotional roller-coasterbut a roller-coaster I’m sure very few would want to get off. Here’s to hoping that the new man driving that roller-coaster knows what he’s doing!
