A Swindon Borough Council team were sent to add and refresh road safety measures outside Greenmeadow Primary School.

Pupils did their bit for road safety around the school by designing colourful banners for display.

Having burnt away the existing yellow road markings, workers then prepped the area to be ready for fresh markings.

As well as line painting leading up to the school’s entrance the team laid fresh yellow markings on roads in the surrounding area.

Additonal safety measures included:

- Laying markings for a ‘School Keep Clear’ zone

- Installing school warning and school keep clear signs

- Updating the existing flashing amber lights by the school

The work was part of the council School Safety Environment Zones initiative, a series of measures at schools across the borough.

Greenmeadow Primary School head teacher Kate McKinnon said: “At Greenmeadow, like all schools in Swindon, we take the safety of our children extremely seriously.

“We are lucky to have locations close to school where people can park which would mean that cars don’t need to come into Pen Close, and we thank the local businesses for their support.” entering a local competition for younger people, and will now paint it on one of the huge balloon dog sculptures.
