After 15 years in the greengrocer trade at a well known corner shop in town, Shaw resident Ken Croker is out on his own on the road. His mobile shop will soon be a well known sight around West Swindon as he brings fresh fruit, vegetables and grocery items to the doorstep.

In setting up Kenny's Rollerstore Ken has taken on quite a challenge in trying to convince customers that buying from him will be in their interests. But he reckons he can make a go of bringing a convenient, high quality service to the doorstep. "I'm sure customers wih find the prices for my fruit and vegetables the best in West Swindon," said Ken. "And I know the quality will be superb."

Ken Croker is very aware that quality of produce will have to be his hallmark and after being in the trade since he left school, he knows a thing or two about what to provide for his customers. In his mobile shop he will also sell items like sweets, crisps, soft drinks, cigarettes, toiletries,

"You don't get service like you used to" is a saying often heard. However it applies to West Swindon resident Eddie Hughes who has set up as a glazing specialist with the assistance of the Government's Enterprise Allowance Scheme. So far business has been quite good with over 80% of his work coming from the best measure of confidence - word of mouth.

Eddie will take on the smallest to the largest jobs, and being on his own, he offers tremendous flexibility. He offers a 24 hour emergency repair service and he is able to replace individual double-glazed units which break down, when condensation appears between the panes.

Eddie also supplies replacement windows but unlike the big operators he will supply and install them on an individual basis as and when the client can afford house improvements at little extra cost, he will also do the work when its convenient to the customer. So even though its winter, he's able to install windows quickly, efficiently and without inconvenience. EAH Services are in Westlea. Telephone 870838. General Manager Robert Hardy, assisted by two full time senior managers, Ian Markey and Eric Annis, seconded from British Rail and W H Smith respectively, together with help from part-time professional as well as full-time secretarial staff. There is no charge for the advisory and counselling services of the Trust.
