Patients pitch in
Volunteers turned out in force on Friday 17 November to help Dr Peter Swinyard move into his new surgery at 36 Deerhurst Way. By the following Monday, walls had been decorated, carpet laid, shelves put up and furniture moved, ready for the first consultation.
Dr Swinyard said one 75 year old patient even rose from his sick bed to join in. 'There has been an amazing amount of goodwill. I would like to thank all who helped or has wished us well.'
However BT took the whole day to connect the phones, despite several weeks notice.
Some of Dr Swinyard's 2,000 registered patients joined him for an opening party at the surgery on Saturday 25 November.
Start a toddler group Volunteers are needed to restart a parent and toddler group at Toothill Community Centre. The space is available and there is a stock of toys and equipment already in place for use.
