What is Large Scale Service Project? Why should I go?

LSSP 2012

20 things to do at LSSP!

LSSP 2012 In 2011, 200 people came to Virginia Beach, VA to do community

service prior to the convention. These members did approximately 3,700 hours of service to the community. CKI LSSP will have over 20 projects all over New Orleans and this year we are proud to announce that Circle K International will assist in a Habitat for Humanity build. This will be the first time that CKI LSSP will do a project together as ONE. Can you imagine the shear strength and will power of 200+ students? I can’t either! You’ll just have to come to New Orleans and find out!

Lauren Perkins (Texas-Oklahoma) “LSSP is 3 days where you get to do nothing but service with your friends from all over the world. It is the perfect precursor to ICON and the perfect chance to remind ourselves and our host city what we’re all about: Service.”

Danielle Sammut (New Jersey) ”It wasn’t until I went to LSSP did I realize just how big Circle K International really is. Being with over a hundred like-minded people, dedicated to helping the community is a life-changing experience. You truly learn the power of a team in helping to change the world.”

Allison Prisco (Texas-Oklahoma) My favorite thing about LSSP is getting to serve our host city with members from different CKI clubs”

Robert Accera (New Jersey)

“LSSP allows you to forget about the hustle and bustle of life back at home and just focus on the tenant of service and fellowship during the amazing three day event...you get to meet amazing people from all over the CKI and actually get to know them and serve alongside of them. It is a much needed amazing few days after a maybe stressful year of school work!”

Your Name Here (Go to LSSP) “Where is your inspirational story? LSSP can be your life changing story. Come to New Orleans and see what the party is about!”

LSSP 2012

LSSP’s inspirationals!

ICON is 3 days of amazing guest speakers, workshops, and district spirit! After learning from inspirational guest speakers, taking idea churning workshops, experiencing the volatile international house of delegates, witnesses democracy take place as we vote in our new international board, and trying to win the spirit stick for your the MIGHTY SOUTHWEST DISTRICT! you will leave New Orleans a completely new person. You think the small SWD won’t make a difference? Well you’re dead wrong! In 2010 the SWD won the spirit stick not once but twice! I would like to also mention that we should have won it in 2011 too, but you know . . . everyone needs to get the trophy at least once, apparently. Come to ICON and have a blast!

What is International Convention? Why should I go?

ICON 2012

Guess who’s coming to ICON 2012! Lauren Potter will keynote the

CKI Leadership Luncheon! She portrays the character Becky Jackson, a cheerleader with Down syndrome, on the TV show Glee. In November 2011, President Obama appointed Lauren to the President’s Committee for People with Intellectual Disabilities, where she advises the White House on issues related to that population. Potter was born May 10, 1990, in Inland Empire, California. She graduated from Polytechnic High School in Riverside, California, and is studying at Irvine Valley College in Irvine, California, as of Fall 2011.

Kiwanis International will be joining us in New Orleans! For the first time in

our history Kiwanis International and Circle K International will be hosting their respective international conventions in the same city at the same time. While Kiwanis will be across the street in their own hotel, they have graciously invited CKIers to their amazing events at a discount. We will even help organize their first ever ELIMINATE walk. Kiwanis ICON is a quite a spectacle too as over 1000 registrants will fill the area.

Adrian Perez-Valenzuela “I like the nerdy stuff. I love being part of the changes to CKI. I also love the district spirit at the roll call”

Omar Perez “One of my favorite moments was trying to get Nicole Martinez to keep her eyes open when taking pictures”

Ale Gaytan “my favorite thing about ICON is the politics and the funny shows and team spirit”

Nicole Martinez “ICON really inspired me when I saw several hundred other students from around the world that wanted to help their communities just as much as I do”

Erin Lin “I love that I get to meet people from all over the world”
