Stanley Morffew Stanley , originally from England, is happily settled in Eaton in his lovely home with a large back garden where he has nuts and vegetables thriving. He worked in industrial electricity all his working life. Stan and his wife, Joyce, spent one year in Bahrain and two years in Nigeria before work led them to New Zealand. They were making their way back to England , but a stop over in Australia captured them and they did not continue the journey back to England. Stan worked at Worsley and Muja plants, establishing electricity to the sites, working with a private electrical company until his retirement at sixty years of age.

Stan keeps himself very busy with an array of interesting hobbies. Stan goes fly fishing with a group of friends to a private dam in the Ferguson Valley. Stan has made many lures and flies to use to improve his chances of nabbing ‘The Big One’ again as he did in 1996, when he captured a whopping 5 pound 3 ounce trout! Stan learnt how to complete facet cutting of cubic zirconias and has a beautiful collection of various colours of stones that he has cut and designed. Stan attends the Australind Men’s Shed weekly where he enjoys companionship and is also assisted with any 16

wood cutting he needs, for his wood carving hobby that keeps him very busy. Walking sticks, flower carvings and recently a new project creating a carving of an owl in a larger piece of wood are a few of the wood carvings Stan has been busy creating. He uses pictures from books for the designs and then chisels away to get the desired results. Joyce, his precious wife, sadly passed away this year and Stan has expressed his gratitude to the SWCC team who helped him through the very difficult time of caring for his wife. The support he received not only for Joyce, but for himself too, certainly made a difference and he was able to cope with daily chores and being at his wife’s side. He has fond memories of music and laughter during these times of support. Stan now has the SWCC home maintenance team doing his lawns and a care worker assisting in his home with domestic chores– he enjoys this time and appreciates the company and his clean home!
