Finance Team Our team is a support for the whole organisation to ensure all financial aspects of the business are up to date and comply with Government body reporting and recording requirements. This includes payroll, accounts, invoicing, asset management, procurement and reporting. Each member of the team has a specific focus and responsibility, however we all work closely to support each other. Even though the Finance team are office based, we still enjoy the contact with our consumers, especially when they visit one of the offices or social centres. Denise, our Payroll Officer is well liked by all staff, for obvious reasons, however she is a super talented team member and also provides valuable experience in the area of procurement. Denise loves to research and find the best equipment, supplies and price both for staff and our consumers. Vicki, our Finance Officer is a very organised person who produces all the monthly service invoices and then processes all the payments made by each consumer. Vicki also manages our fleet of vehicles to ensure they are well maintained and regularly serviced to provide our consumers with a safe ride and all round positive experience. Kymm, the newest member of the team, just celebrated her first year anniversary with us. Kymm assists in the management of Home Care Package government funding and regularly reports to the Government of the activity in this area. Kymm works closely with the Care Managers to support our HCP consumers and generates the monthly statements. We all love working in Aged Care and find it very

rewarding. Michelle Wells

Michelle Wells—Finance Manager “I have been part of the SWCC team for the past 8.5 years. I live in Harvey with my husband and two teenage boys. Before joining SWCC I worked in the banking sector for 17 years in Busselton, Bunbury and Harvey. As the manager of the Finance Team I have to ensure SWCC complies with the respective legislation and oversee expenditure of Commonwealth and State Government Funding as per funding agreements. As a member of the Management Team, I report all financial activity to the Board of Management and support the CEO to make informed strategic decisions on the growth and development of SWCC. During my time with SWCC, I have worked alongside some amazing staff and I am truly proud to be a part of team that provides an awesome service to our valued consumers. A highlight of my time was attending the 2019 Regional Achievement Awards and also ACSWA Aged Care Provider of the Year Award ceremony, where SWCC was acknowledged for our fantastic innovative service and great team culture, it was very humbling to represent all staff.”

Vicki Brigden—Finance Officer “I was born in England and moved to Australia when I was two years old and have lived in the local area most of my life. For over fifteen years, I have been a wildlife carer. I am passionate about saving our wildlife and giving them a chance to survive. My career has always been in finances. At South West Community Care, as finance officer based in the Eaton office, I deal with all invoices and payments for our consumers and I am always happy to assist with any queries or help sort out any issues that may arise. When I am not balancing income and expenditures, I love getting away from it all by going camping, fishing and 4-wheel driving in remote areas.” www.swcommunitycare.org.au

Kymm McAdam—HCP Finance Officer “Originally from Perth, I came to Bunbury over 6 years ago and have loved every moment. I have two young boys, who keep me very busy outside of work. During the weekends, my family enjoys the beautiful beaches here, Collie river and all the nature walks. Saturday mornings are usually dedicated to kids sport Auskick and Teeball. I have worked at SWCC for just over a year now. My position is the Finance Officer for all the Home Care Packages and I work out of the Harvey and Eaton offices. My job is to ensure the funding we receive from the government matches directly to our consumers’ individual packages. My previous job was as an analyst for a large company in Perth and being in finance we were at arms-length from all the customers. Working at SWCC, I do enjoy how this company is making a difference in the community and I see, feel and understand the positive effects that working here has for all involved.”

Denise Baggetta—Payroll Officer “I was born in Brunswick and moved with my family to Harvey as a child. My first job was with the National Australia Bank where I worked for over 10 years. I live just out of Harvey with my husband Mick, daughter Olivia and dog Toby. My beautiful daughter is 17 years old and is currently at Manea Senior College doing a Cert III in Design. I come from a very community based family, my parents have strong ties to Harvey and have many bonds to local organizations. The urge to help others has been instilled in me since I was a child and I love working at SWCC where we all do this on a daily basis. My love of numbers has led me to many jobs in finance, which is where I am today at South West Community Care. I started working with South West Community Care in 2016 in reception and then moved into Finance, which is my passion. Our Finance team is an amazing group of women who help and support not only each other but fellow workers and most importantly our gorgeous consumers. Not many people can say they love coming to work every day but we all do. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of this amazing team.” 6

Rowie Crawford—Certificate III in Business Congratulations to Rowie on the completion of her traineeship. Rowie now has her Certificate III in Business qualification. Many of you will know Rowie, either from speaking to her on the phone or meeting her at our reception where Rowie would have assisted you with invoices, meals, service information, transport and so much more. Rowie has a gentle and compassionate approach, always polite and patient and makes every effort to help our consumers and staff with all the requests and tasks that fill the day. “I am 21 years old, spent my first 18 years growing up in Binningup , now currently living by myself in Bunbury. I have been working in administration at the Harvey office since July 2018. I enjoy being able to connect with our consumers and getting to know about them and their lives. Minus a few hiccups along the way, including a moon boot with crutches (twice) and an ankle surgery I have really enjoyed being able to learn new skills that I can put towards my job and helping others.

I have been very lucky to be surrounded by such a supportive team and I am very grateful to have been able to complete my certificate with South West Community Care.”

Your Story

Gwen (92) and Guy (94)

Gwen was born in Goomaling on 14 August 1928. Gwen was the first baby born at the Goomalling Hospital and as such received a silver christening mug, presented to her parents by Lady Campion. Gwen still treasures this mug. She overcame a difficult childhood, left school at 14 years of age and started working in Perth in the fashion industry, sewing dresses by hand and then progressed to machine sewing. Gwen later worked in a perfumery and cosmetic section of a large department store for many years. 16

Guy was born in Harvey on 28 April 1926,and lived and worked on a local dairy farm to assist his family. Guy enjoyed a wonderful lifestyle working on a cattle station up North. Guy also worked on Cockatoo Island and joined the air force for one year as part of the City of Perth Spitfire Squadron. After the war, Guy worked as a plasterer for 40 years on many government buildings including Royal Perth Hospital, Government House and several high schools. Guy and Gwen have enjoyed many trips amongst others to Singapore, Hong Kong, England, Cairns and Melbourne where their only daughter, Julie and two granddaughters, Mia and Zoi, live. Gwen and Guy have been back in Harvey for the last 20 years. The secrets to a healthy and long life: Gwen – keep active and busy, spending time with good friends playing games to keep the mind on the go. Gwen enjoys a challenging game of scrabble with friends. Guy- a good marriage, laughter and friendships, contact with people and focussing on a project as therapy in difficult times.

Guy enjoys artwork and has completed many sketches in pastels and pencil of people and Australian animals and birds. Guy presents these drawings as gifts to friends. Both Gwen and Guy thoroughly enjoy their times at the Social Centre in Harvey. There they enjoy friendships, conversations and the activities that keep them involved in the community.
