It’s a funny game football! Play well and get beat , play really well and get beat… play poorly (by our standards) and win. Whilst the win against Kader in the Burness Plate on Saturday was satisfying on two fronts, a win is always nice and it also put right the 0-5 defeat two weeks previous. However in football terms and how we want to play it was disappointing. We have played much better this year and we need to get a level of consistency in our play that will come from confidence and winning but I think more importantly in our attitude and mentality. Despite not playing so well I thought we were the better side in the first half and were unlucky to go into half time at 1-1 conceding straight from a corner, their only real chance in the first half. Second half I thought we again edged it although again we can play a lot better. When we take the lead as we did in the second half we need to learn to close the game out for 15-20 minutes to give us a chance to build on the lead and then go from there. Extra time and the return of Greavsey (after a long lay off) saw his commitment and dedication to the squad rewarded with his first goal for the Town and the winner. We were by far the better team in extra time and for once held onto the lead until the end. We are again reminded of the importance of our squad and everyone knowing everyone elses job…. With Brock, Jack Bennets & Biise missing Stu, Steely & Tom all stepped in comfortably. However we lost Dave Rowney (ankle) and Muzz (thigh) to the casualty list. Also a well done to Swanny, Dan and especially Greavsey on coming on from the bench

2010 / 2011 The Intermediates founded when former U18 manager and BTJFC Secretary Peter Cooper and John Swanson came together to put together an adult team for the junior section. Both agreed that the Teesside league would be a good challenge and both had the same vision, to have a team where the players from the junior section could stay with the club once they had finished their junior football. The first season proved difficult on many levels; 42 players coming and going, organising a strip and pitches and most significantly the devastating death of Peter in October 2010. Ian Murray then the U18 manager joined the management team. A difficult season saw only 1 win in29 games... but the basis of a squad to go into the next season, and true to the philosophy that Peter had held, the majority had been former Junior players. 2011 / 2012 With a core of lads from the previous season and some of Ian's former U18 lads, the season looked to be full of promise, however the step up for the new lads and trying to gel the squads together saw the season start off where it finished the previous season, winless, however the results were encouraging. Once the team had it's first win under it's belt it went on an unbeaten run of 8 games. With the odd win/draw towards the end of the season...the results did not reflect the performances. The team had now started to develop a style of it's own, playing some attractive football, the highlight of the season had to be away to Northallerton Academy 22-0 down at half time, Town outplayed Northallerton to win 33-2 playing some great football, showing great character and both starting and finishing with10 former Junior players... the foundation well and truly in place. Thanks to the hard work of Ian The team got new strips through a sponsorship agreement with RA DALTON. whose support is still much appreciated. 2012 / 2013 A more settled squad started the season playing a good style of football however a string of long term injuries to key players disrupted the season. Again the squad struggled for points and goals but the last 9 games of the season saw a more settled 2--1 win at team start to play the football it promised early on. The highlight being the 2 Lingdale the first team to defeat champions (1 of only 2 clubs to do it) The season again saw progress both on and off the pitch with the addition to the coaching staff of goalkeeping coach Peter Laverick. The squad has 25 former junior players out of the 32 signed on continuing the philosophy that the team was set up to fulfil 2013 / 2014 We start the season at a new ground, Northfield sportsdrome and now have the support of the Whitehouse Pub who provide after match refreshments and have also paid for our pitch fees‌‌ Massive thanks !!!

Over the last 3 years we have entered the Durham County Trophy and have used these games to spread the word about what BTJFC are about and to make new “friends”. This year our friendlies were against 2 teams we has played in the cup in previous years and a new community club…. This is their season!

DURHAM STONEBRIDGE 7 V 2 WINGATE FC Stonebridge ran out easy winners 7 2 at the Bobby Robson Centre. Goals from Jack Carr (4) Craig Mountain James Huntley and Joe Kerry maintained a good decent start to the season for the Stonebridge. The home team started very well and should have been 3 up in the first ten minutes but poor finishing mean it was 2 1 at the break. Stonebridge were more ruthless in the second half and despite another goal for Philip Hickman ran out easy winners. Some positives from the game was the form of Jack Carr and Joe Kerry who was back in his favoured position

Gateshead Redheugh 1957 7 V 4Birtley St Josephs Liam Henderson struck three times in Gateshead Redheugh’s 7-4 win over Birtley Saint Josephs to move into second. Andy May, John Dewhirst, Zak Atkinson and Alan Pegram also fired home with Anthony Smith (2), Dan Irving and Lee Cuthbertson replying in a fastfast-paced and exciting encounter.
