from the ceo Thank you for helping create a successful cooperative I first want to thank everyone who worked so hard to make our recent annual meeting a success. Several members thanked us for the event, and I’m sure all who attended appreciated your friendliness and helpfulness. At every annual meeting, I’m reminded of the fact that even though it’s easy to think of “the membership” as a homogeneous group, we must always remember that our members are all unique individuals whose needs can also be unique, and every one of them is worthy of our service and respect. As in past editions, this Watt’s Up contains a little information about what and how we are doing related to our five core values that we call SMORE — Safety, Member Experience, Outreach to Community, Reliability and Economic Viability. Sometimes, our successes in these areas are going to gain us the attention of our peers. For instance, I recently had the honor of attending the National Electric Cooperative Safety Summit in Atlanta with Mark Mosely, our training and safety loss control director. Continued on next page

"Speak Up - Listen Up" Be sure to speak up immediately if you observe someone demonstrating a good safety practice or if you come across a potentially hazardous situation.

»» Teach and train about clear communication and follow up with all employees concerning their safety responsibilities and safety rules that pertain to their daily tasks.
